This week the news have finally leaked - (capsule) tradeshow will come for the first time to Berlin this summer. After having started in New York, capsule now runs shows also in Las Vegas and Paris. Berlin was a logical next step, as the German capital has built a strong fashion market over the years with industry heavy weights such as Bread & Butter already being there. It will be interesting to see what brands the show attracts. capsule Berlin will be on July 7th and 8th at Alte Munze.

Tonight the new VOO Concept Store opened its doors with a bang in the Berlin Kreuzberg neighborhood. While most shopping destinations are located in the Mitte district, VOO is making a bold move by opening a massive 300 square meter retail space in Kreuzberg, an area that established itself in the food and nightlife areas, but not yet for retail. In a typical Berlin environment the store is located in a backyard of popular Oranienstrasse. Raw concrete walls, a supersized table, concrete counters, a stage and a wooden hut make up the store. This is exactly what you would wish for in this area of town and the line-up of brands only complements the interior. Represented in the store are Pendleton, Stine Goya, Wood Wood, Henrik Vibskov, Soulland, Cheap Monday and many others. We like the wide range of brands and also pricing, making the store a destination for everybody.

In the future you can not only look out for more brands to enter the space, but also for art exhibitions and other events to take place. Make sure to check it out on your next Berlin trip. Even if it might seem a little out of the way, we can assure you that it is all worth it!

This past weekend we witnessed the official opening of the MADE creative space in Berlin. MADE is a new space that offers creative minds the space and vision to fulfill their creative dreams. Artists, musicians or any other creative person can apply to MADE, work in the space, exhibit in the space and host events in the space. The premise is complete freedom.

For the opening MADE has commissioned Yoske Nishiumi and Alex Flach. Yoske you should know from his Koi Club event series and Asics collaborations. Alex Flach is the photo editor of Lodown magazine and he has also released the book “Berlin Calling” a couple of years ago. Together they present the project “Snowglobe”. Each artist created a glass bubble, one inspired by Yoske’s home town of Tokyo, the other one by Alex’s home town of Berlin. The detail in their work really impressed us and everybody else attending. The most special thing about their work, is probably the interaction with the viewer, as you can enter the bubble to experience the art all around you.

As part of the adidas Consortium City Series we give you today a first detailed look at the Berlin sneaker in collaboration with Solebox. The designed was based on the original colors of the adidas Berlin. Only one color was added and the actual original colors are placed on the interior lining of the sneaker, making for an interesting effect and detail. Basically you get the old and the new adidas Berlin in one shoe. Look out for a release of the sneaker on October 17th.

Today we passed by the Parra exhibition at Pool Gallery in Berlin. For almost 4 months Parra has been preparing for the show, creating lots of new original pieces. Highlights in the show mark his new black/white series of prints, which come in editions of only 9 pieces. Our personal favorite is his new mid-size sculpture, which comes in his signature colors and in an edition of 20. Otherwise the exhibition showcases many outstanding paintings by the Dutch artist. We can only recommend a visit.

From August 29th Wood Wood Berlin will also be hosting a Parra pop-up store, where you will be able to purchase a special t-shirt that was released only for this event, along with lots of other Parra items.

Reebok introduces a new high top sneaker as part of their Spring/Summer 2009 Collection. The Berlin comes in two colorways, featuring a mix of perforated and snake skin embossed leather on the upper. The Reebok Berlin is now available at Proper.

Yesterday the Solemart event by Solebox took place in Berlin. Sneaker collectors from Germany and all over Europe came out to buy and trade sneakers. A lot of sneaker brands also participated in the event, including Lacoste, adidas, New Balance, Reebok and asics, all showcasing old classics, stand-out collaborations and upcoming collections to the sneaker enthusiasts.

Last week the launch of the Nike 1World Air Force 1 Feride Uslu took place at Wood Wood Berlin. Here some impressions of the great event. Not only the invites looked like flight tickets, they also had real airplane seats, windows and more in place, to make sure the theme of the sneaker was translated into the setup of the event.
