With the fall 2012 menswear shows having just finished in Europe, it’s not too difficult to round up the most ridiculous looks of the season. TOPMAN presents for Summer 2011 the Swim Short Project. As part of the project they collaborated with a series of creatives and designers on swim shorts. Contributors to the project include Cassette Playa, Todd Selby, Jonathan Saunders, Bernhard Willhelm and Gary Card. The collection of swim shorts is now available from TOPMAN stores.

For the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, MoMu, the Fashion Museum in Antwerp and Mercedes-Benz, invited Belgian art director Frederik Heyman and 4 fashion designers with exceptional signatures and outspoke styles – Bernhard Willhelm, Peter Pilotto, Henrik Vibskov and Mikio Sakabe – to create 4 installations.

“At the heart of each installation stands a Mercedes Benz Young Classics. From these cars from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, 4 cars were selected that today have an undisputed cult status: W115, S123, R107 and C126. In their designs, we asked the designers to reflect on how the Young Classics can still inspire us today and to interpret the widely varying connotations associated with these cars into a contemporary context.

For each Young Classics, photographer and artist Frederik Heyman created a unique decor and used it only once in a photographic illustration. The design of tableaux and their photographic reproduction are central to Heyman’s oeuvre. Humour and a surrealist visual vocabulary are an intrinsic part of his artistic signature. His decors are built completely by hand, in collaboration with a team of sculptors and artists. In the final results, the handcraft, the construction and consequently also quality craftsmanship are always clearly traceable. Fashion designers Bernhard Willhelm, Peter Pilotto, Henrik Vibskov and Mikio Sakabe have added their own visions to the installations with each 3 new looks.”

Last week the new exhibition”One Size Fits All” opened its doors in Milan during Fashion Week. Envisioned and organized by former graffiti artist Ivano Atzori aka Dumbo, he brought together some of the world’s most recognized fashion designers and fashion houses to each design a mask for the exhibition. The inspiration of the project comes from Ivano’s days as a graffiti writer. The mask was his main tool to ensure his anonymity. Thus he asked Haider Ackermann, Vivienne Westwood, Missoni, Alessandro Dell’Aqua of N.21, Neil Barrett, Raf Simons, Ennio Capasa, Riccardo Tisci and Bernhald Willhelm to customize and create their own versions of his mask. The opening took place at the Palazo Morando and of course drew in quite the crowd.

Designer Bernhard Willhelm and Camper continue their relationship for another series of footwear. In this release Willhelm offers his take on the sneaker/hiking boot hybrid that seems to be permeating throughout the industry.

The good people from A Magazine have launched a new magazine, entitled N°ABCDE Magazine. Every issue of the new magazine is designed and curated by a different designer. The first issues to release were curated and designed by Dirk van Saene and Bernhard Willhelm, which can both be seen online here.

For the upcoming months, they have already announced the line-up of curators and it includes Hussein Chalayan, Olivier Theyskens and Viktor & Rolf.

“Dirk Van Saene was the first guest, that same year, N°B magazine was also published, curated by Bernhard Wilhelm. While N°A was more about Belgian fashion in general, Bernhard decided to dedicate the contents of his magazine to his friends and interests, with spectacular results. From then on, the guests had “carte blanche”. N°C magazine had Hussein Chalayan as its guest and N°D featured Olivier Theyskens and N°E featured Viktor&Rolf. By then, the relationship with the publisher turned sour, and the magazine folded.”

We already showed you the workboots from Bernhard Willhelm’s capsule collection for Spanish footwear brand Camper. Today we have a look at a second pair of higher-cut boots. They are constructed with the same sole unit and washed out black leather toe, but also feature a lighter upper, with a series of brown leather buckles. Now available from Opening Ceremony (along with the workboots and some women’s styles).

Spanish footwear brand Camper continues to work with fashion designer Bernhard Willhelm. The latest result of this collaboration is the above winter boot. It comes in a washed out black leather with a light brown leather strap closure. Via Easttouch.

A couple of weeks ago we gave you a first look at one model of the Mykita x Bernhard Willhelm Sunglass collection. Today we show you the other frame from the collaboration and you can also pre-order them already from Oki-Ni. Inspired by the ski events of the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics, the collection is inspired by ski and sportswear 70s aesthetics.
