In an interesting new collaboration K-Swiss has teamed up with menswear designer Billy Reid. The outcome is a simple canvas summer sneaker. Added details seen on the laces, lining and upper, as well as the Alabama produced wooden box packaging, make these low tops certainly stand out. Two more colorways of the sneaker will be coming with the general release.

Billy Reid and K-Swiss unveiled a collaborative sneaker the Billy Reid Spring 2011 runway last night.

The unisex shoe is Billy Reid’s take on K-Swiss’s original canvas tennis shoe. Billy has personally been a fan and proud owner of the early version of this K-Swiss shoe for over 25 years – and now, he is looking forward to a replacement pair and an ongoing relationship with the brand.

The tennis shoe is featured in duck and twill canvas and comes in three washed colorways. Not bad.

We take a detailed look at the new Levi’s Workwear by Billy Reid Fall/Winter 2010 Collection. The line is made up of denim, fleece jackets, washed out crewneck sweaters, shirts, t-shirts and a tote bag. As you may know, Levi’s have teamed with Billy Reid for Fall 2010 as part of his win as GQ’s ‘Best New Menswear Designer in America.’ As part of that collaborative program, Levi’s and VBS.tv filmed a documentary down in Florence, Albama – Billy’s hometown and base – spotlighting local musicians of the famed Muscle Shoals studios.

The documentary in its entirety will be screened at Billy’s NYC boutique as part of his participation with Fashion’s Night Out, this coming Friday, September 10, 2010. In the meantime, we can show you a “vignette” trailer promoting the film, which of course showcases garments from the Levi’s Workwear by Billy Reid collection.

Just this weekend Billy Reid has been announced as America’s best new menswear designer by GQ and therefore we thought we’d give you a closer look at the designers work. Here is a detailed review of his Fall 2010 Collection. Tweed suits, rolled up pants, flight leather jackets and slick double breasted suits make up the collection, which also takes some inspiration from the outdoors, but not as heavily as we have seen in some other collections. We definitely like a lot what we see here, as it is still easy to wear and clearly transmits the idea of quality and style. Classic materials and colors meet modern cuts.
