Kanye West presents the Glow in the Dark Book, a title documenting his much hyped 2008 tour. The book was designed by Base and features photographes by Nabil Elderkin.
“Along with on stage and behind-the-scenes shots, the book includes conceptual sketches by West, costume designs, and stage models. The book comes with an audio CD featuring the previously unreleased live instrumentals for “Hey Mama”, “Touch the Sky”, “Jesus Walks”, and “I Wonder”, as well as an interview with tour collaborator Spike Jonze.”
The book is supposed to come out this month from Rizzoli.

The title “ALL CITY WRITERS” by Andrea Caputo describes a vast research project on the writing movement, focussing particularly on the process of its exportation from New York to the whole of Europe during the 80s. International crews, fanzine networks, inter-rail traveling are, among others, key chapters in which writers have become protagonists.
The whole project developed from the consideration that many of the stories that writers experience are just lost in time. Other than the pictures of their pieces, the adventures, and sensations a writer lives through often just disappear like so many other bits of oral culture. For that reason, “ALL CITY WRITERS” contains the largest contribution of texts ever published in this field. “ALL CITY WRITERS” tries to document the evolution and the consequences of a counter cultural phenomenon that over the course of a few decades provoked a change in the aesthetics and the rules of communication of modern day society.

Since Carhartt has been a steady supporter of editorial projects focussing on graffiti, be it in the form of books, magazines, and fanzines, it was only natural to collaborate on “ALL CITY WRITERS” and to support its distribution.
“ALL CITY WRITERS” will be released on 7 November accompanied by a press conference as well as a exhibition and a release party in Milan. The book will be available at selected bookshops and Carhartt retailers and of course at all Carhartt Stores. A European exhibition series with the participation of “ALL CITY WRITERS” contributors at selected Carhartt Stores will follow in early 2010.

Aaron Bondaroff and O.H.W.O.W teamed with Terence Koh on their latest release: I Want A Little Sugar In My Bowl. Documenting the “weirdos and characters” that make up the downtown New York City scene, over one hundred artists were curated by Terence Koh, Anat Ebgi, and Jenny Schlenzka. The curatorial premise was, as Koh bluntly noted, “people we’d want to fuck.” And as such, the softcover, 100 page book presents black and white portraits of eclectic NYC artists such as Rita Ackerman (pictured) and Nate Lowman among many others. Now available at O.H.W.O.W.

More than a thousand people turned out at Vans HQ in Cypress, CA on Thursday night to mark the release of the book, Vans: Off the Wall, Stories of Sole from Vans Originals by Doug Palladini. The evening mirrored the book in celebrating the community of board and bike legends, musicians and artists that have all helped Vans become the definition of laid back California style.
A crowd ranging from skate and surf icons Steve Caballero, Christian Hosoi, Geoff Rowley, Joel Tudor, Nathan Fletcher, Peter Townend, and Randy Rarick to musicians Greg Hetson of the Circle Jerks, Warren G, Joe Escalante of The Vandals and Andy Williams and Josh Newton of Every Time I Die were on hand. Los Mysteriosos, Steve Alba and Powerflex 5, Tony Alva and GFR and headliner TSOL provided the soundtrack on Vans’ new stage above the mini ramp.
Party goers enjoyed PBRs and Rockstar while taking in the new OTW Gallery featuring Steve Caballero, Neckface, Grime, Dennis McNett, Derek Albeck, Kime Buzzelli, Travis Millard, Parra, Oliver Peck, more than 20 artists interpretations of the Vans logo. The evening even saw a TV show filming as West Coast Customs unveiled their newest creation, the “Vans What If?” bus.
