Book: BE STUPID for Successful Living by Renzo Rosso

Book: BE STUPID for Successful Living by Renzo Rosso

Rizzoli presents a new book, written by Diesel founder Renzo Rosso for Fall 2011 – BE STUPID for Successful Living. No matter what you might think of Diesel today, the brand has played a major role in bringing premium denim to where it is today and has overall had major impact on the denim market.

“Diesel’s Be Stupid advertising campaign created a stir worldwide. Now the philosophy behind the campaign is presented in full in Renzo Rosso’s manual of practical advice and business-tested wisdom for achieving success. Drawing on his experience as a creative entrepreneur, Rosso explains how the braveness to make stupid decisions and the ability to see things for how they could be helped him build a successful company. Be Stupid is a method for learning: a guide for how to listen to your heart and not your head, to be creative instead of critical, and to get back on your feet after a downfall. The book reflects the inspiring story and personality of the author: methodical but fun, creative but rational, passionate and pragmatic. “

Diesel is known for its different and at times risky advertising strategies, which usually turn out to be rather successful for the brand. Insight on these measures are given in the book by Renzo Rosso himself. The book releases on September 13th, 2011.

LADY GAGA Book by Terry Richardson

Grand Central Publishing announced today that it will publish LADY GAGA, a book of never-before-seen photographs of Lady Gaga taken by renowned photographer Terry Richardson. Lady Gaga will write the foreword to the book, which is scheduled to be published on November 22, 2011. Taschen Books will publish a very limited edition of the book to be released the following year.

“A visual dialogue between Lady Gaga and Terry Richardson, the book will showcase over 350 color and black and white photographs taken during the 10 month period in which Richardson followed Lady Gaga and had complete access to her everyday life, with nothing being off limits. Beginning with Lollapalooza in August 2010 to the February 2011 Grammy Awards which had 26.66 million viewers, (the highest viewership in over a decade) to the final shows of her Monster Ball tour which averaged an attendance of 90,000 people each day, Richardson brilliantly captures the intimate, random, behind-the-scenes moments of Lady Gaga in both her professional and personal life. During the almost year-long global odyssey, Richardson took over 100,000 images and followed the recording process of BORN THIS WAY. The resulting book, featuring some of the most revelatory and exciting of these photographs, captures Lady Gaga as never before seen.”

Once we have first visuals of the book, we will of course present them to you.

Def Jam Recordings: The First 25 Years of the Last Great Record Label

Def Jam Recordings Rizzoli Book Def Jam Recordings: The First 25 Years of the Last Great Record Label
This September, Rizzoli will release “Def Jam Recordings: The First 25 Years of the Last Great Record Label” written by Bill Adler and Dan Charnas, with a preface by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons.

“This is the story of Def Jam in the words of its artists and top executives, taken from interviews and seamlessly told as a narrative of no-holds barred recollections and anecdotes, made even more compelling by the fact that Def Jam is one of the last great record labels to enjoy the widespread cultural influence that it does, in light of the increasing digitization of music. Def Jam celebrates a label that defined hip-hop and whose impact extends beyond its incredible roster of recording artists to all areas of culture–fashion, lifestyle, cinema, art–impacting the music business and pop culture forever.”

Artists LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Rihanna and Kanye West are all featured, amongst others, alongside memorabilia from the archives and photos by the likes of Albert Watson, Glen E. Friedman, Jonathan Mannion and Annie Leibovitz. Furthermore, the book was designed by Cey Adams, Def Jam’s founding creative director.
