It look as if Nikon’s latest high-end DSLR, the D800, will be releasing soon. Word has it, this new 36.3 megapixel CMOS sensor camera will be capable of 7360 x 4912 resolution images and also possessing the ability to create 1080p digital video. Olympus is bringing back the classic OM series. With an official preview still a couple of days away, we get an early look at the OM-D E-M5 digital camera. The micro four thirds camera will feature a 16 megapixel sensor, electronic viewfinder, one of the fastest autofocus systems on the market, and a weatherproof magnesium body. We love the look of the camera, which seems especially robust. How it performs, we will only find out once the first hands-on reviews are out.

First images of the upcoming Pentax K-01 camera, designed by Marc Newson, have leaked this week. But the camera does not only look cool, it also comes with the world’s thinnest interchangeable lens.

“This unifocal standard lens offers a focal length equivalent to 61mm in the 35mm format, and measures a mere 9.2 millimeters in length, making it the world’s thinnest interchangeable lens. Thanks to its super-thin design, it is highly portable and easy to store and carry. Its optics were designed based on those of the acclaimed smc PENTAX-DA 40mm F2.8 Limited lens. Its maximum aperture of F2.8 produces sharp, bright images in a wide range of applications, including snapshots, scenic photos, portraits, and even incident-light indoor shooting.”

PENTAX borrows a handy feature from DSLR cameras and applies it to this Optio VS20 point and shoot camera. This new little guy features a vertical shutter button, which will aid when it comes to taking steadier vertical photos. Other features include a 16MP sensor and a 20x optical zoom. This camera is set to drop in February of this year.

Holden Outerwear has announced a partnership with analog instant photography savior, The Impossible Project. Available next fall, the Holden x Impossible camera kit includes a customized and refurbished vintage SX-70 Polaroid camera, a Holden x Tanner Goods leather camera case, and custom Holden x Impossible instant film, all presented in a custom wooden box. There will also be a coinciding, traveling photo exhibit, showcasing images shot on Impossible film, as well as a series of t-shirts based on these photos.

During CES Polaroid announced the Polaroid SC1630, an Android powered smart camera which features a high definition 16 megapixel camera with built in 3X optical zoom, touch screen display and Wi-Fi, making uploads to social networks as easy as the touch of a button. The idea with the Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera is that you will no longer need to choose between your smart phone and your point and shoot .. except that the SC1630 doesn’t make phone calls. That said: the compact, connected device is a solid option for those who want to share quality images quickly. Available later this year.

The official announcement of the new Fujifilm X-Pro 1 camera will be made tomorrow, but today we can already show you a better look at the beautiful addition to the Fujifilm line-up. We love the retro black case, and the choice of lenses that the camera will have, making it a worthy addition to the X100 and X10 cameras that Fujifilm impressed with in the last months. This week the long awaited Nikon D4 has finally be revealed. The new top of the line full frame camera succeeds the D3S DSLR. Making sure to take things to the next level, Nikon packed the camera with a 16.2 megapixel sensor and an extended ISO to 204,800, as well as a brand new full-frame FX-format sensor. Another neat feature of the new camera is the capability of capturing 10 fps stills at full resolution with full auto focus and exposure. To make sure that all that great functionality can actually be used, the camera comes with two memory card slots build in.

Look out for a release of the Nikon D4 in February 2012.

After first rumors about Fujifilm releasing a new mirrorless camera came up earlier this week, everybody ended up being surprised when it was not announced this morning along with the wealth of new cameras that the brand presented. Well, it looks like a French magazine did get some first image of the anticipated X-Pro 1, building on the popular X100.

The camera will come with a 35mm lense, priced at 1300 Euros and Fujifilm will also release 18mm and 60mm lenses for it. We certainly like the look of the camera, similar to the X100 and X10. (Via Slashgear)

Some of us here are avid users of the increasingly popular mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, so this rumor regarding Fujifilm’s possible future release is exciting; especially as it appears to be following in the footsteps of the X10 and X100 in terms of body style. Fuji did an excellent job with the designs, and we can speak from experience when we say performance, too, at least in the case with the X100. Rumor has it that Fuji will reveal the camera at the upcoming CES show. Hopefully, we can bring you more news regarding this camera as it comes along.

Prior to CES 2012, Samsung has announced the new DV300F dual view WiFi camera. In terms of picture quality the 16 MP camera might not compete with the other cameras that we usually report about, yet it comes with some interesting other features.

A second screen is placed on the front, making self portraits much easier. Furthermore it comes with WiFi connectivity, allowing you to backup your images over the Internet, and you can even control the camera with your Android phone (the iOS version of this functionality will also release). Other cool little features include the Artistic Brush, turning an image or movie into a work of art, or the Motion Photo, which allows you to freeze time around a moving subject for dramatic effect.

For the hobby user the new Samsung might be an interesting choice!

A cool new iPhone case comes from Photojojo. As the quality of the iPhone camera gets better, you will of course continue to see lots of interesting upgrades for it, to get the maximum functionality out of it. We have come across many lens kits for the iPhone already, but the Photojojo iPhone Camera Lens Dial Case is definitely an interesting new one. It is certainly not very pretty, but it is practical. Instead of having several of the miniature lenses lying around in your pockets, the case comes with three and you can easily switch between them, by simply turning the dial. The device comes with a 0.7x wide angle lens, 1.5x telephoto zoom, and 0.33x fisheye lens. Furthermore you can attach a tripod to the case.

Priced at 250 USD, the case is definitely not cheap, but if you want to increase your iPhone 4/iphone 4 S shooting quality, it might be worth the investment.
