PUMA’s relationship with track star Tommie Smith dates back to the 1960’s. He was a sponsored PUMA athlete & took home the gold medal in the 200M in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics with the world record time of 19.83 seconds. After setting 7 individual world records in track & field, Tommie played professional football for the Cincinnati Bengals for one season and was elected into the National Track & Field Hall of Fame in 1978. A tribute to this brave athlete and his favorite pair of PUMA sneakers, the Clyde in navy suede, the Tommie Smith Clyde collection features 2 exclusive Clyde offerings.

Blue Suede Clydes:
These are the shoes that Tommie wore on the podium in the 1968 Olympic games. They have been lined with a metallic gold leather lining, a reference to his gold medal win. Other details include an embossed gold medal FOT, Mexico City reference on the sockliner & lateral and the tongue labels display his record breaking time of 19.83 s in the 200M race.

The Scott Bourne Puma Suede is essentially a real skateboard show. It has padding around the ankles, increased protection around the toe and also a super thick tongue. The sneaker comes in three colorways – red, grey and black. All of them have a premium suede upper and they come with fatlaces.
“The hourglass with wings figure on the heel is a nod to Bourne’s own personal motto of ‘memento mori’, which, as those fans of ‘The Streets’ will know is Latin for ‘remember you must die’. Bourne puts his own twist on it claiming that for him it means to chase time and make every moment count. The wings add a different perspective, alluding to the Roman concept that time itself is a fugitive, and you never know when the reaper is coming for ya! So if all you skaters out there want to ‘follow no one’, as the image on the tongue suggests, and rip up the streets with a bit of history then get a pair of the Bourne Clyde’s on your feet” Via Sneaker Freaker.

Soon to release from Puma is the Clyde “Jungle” Pack. The pack consists of three Clydes, which have all panels built with a dyed pony hair, then lasered etched to achieve  the tiger pattern  detail to give the shoes the jungle look.  Other nice details include saddle leather lining and a premium tongue tag.

In Japan Puma has released a new series of limited edition Clydes. This time they kept it really simple and released this classic in three colorways. The upper and the Puma logo stripe come tonal and in overall three colorways – beige, burgundy and black. The Puma Clyde logo is printed in gold on the sneaker and all three colorways come with a gum outer sole, probably the most special feature on these. With so many crazy Clyde variations that dropped through out the year, it is nice to come back to the basics, because the Clyde is definitely a sneaker that is more than good enough by itself without any crazy material, colorway or graphic.

Solebox just released the new Puma Zoo ‘O Lux Pack. The pack comes in three colorways and consists of RS100’s, Clydes and First Rounds. The sneakers all feature lux exotic leathers. Each sneaker comes in a basic color such as black, brown or whit mixed with something a little more flashy such as purple, blue or green.

Here we present you the latest Puma Clydes – the Moon Festival Clydes. Inspired by the Chinese Moon Festival, which takes place every year on August 15th after the lunar calendar, it features a moon on the tongue tag and has the main character of the Moon Festival, the Moon Lady” embroidered on the back heel. On the side panels the Chinese word for “Moon” is printed in gold. Mita will release the Moon Festival Clydes tomorrow in two colorways.

Once again Puma honors Yo! MTV Raps and some of the most influential rap legends of the time -  featuring Doctor Dre and Ed Lover, Big Daddy Kane, MC Shan and Doug E. Fresh — all of those who fathered the Golden Age of Hip-Hop. PUMA will honor these artists, and “YO! MTV Raps,” with a collection of fresh apparel and shoes in typical PUMA style. 
Big Daddy Kane was one of the first rap artists to take on the suave pimp persona, and his shoes exemplify that. The black and gold Suedes feature a black patent PUMA form stripe, patent leather detailing, and an embroidered image of his signature gold chain. Other distinct characteristics include the special YO! lace, a gold shoe liner with the BDK stamp, “Big Daddy” on the left tongue and “Kane” on the right, and the YO! logo on each heel.  A black hoodie with initials ‘BDK’ adorn the front, while Big Daddy Kane is written across the back.  A crisp white t-shirt with further images of his gold chains, rounds off the look.
Without a doubt this is one of the strongest Puma collaboration projects we have seen. Together with the Alife project that we revealed to you just the other day, Puma is on a run. Here some fresh new Puma Clydes, that have been released at Major DC. They come in a ginger green colorway and a turquoise colorway with pink accents. Both very fresh for the last few weeks of the summer.

We did not expect these to release for a bit, but Livestock already received the Puma Clydes, designed in collaboration with the Swedish sneaker store, Sneakers ‘N Stuff.
Definitely one of the most interesting sneakers this season, they applied Swedish reindeer leather on the upper and a sami pattern on the inner lining. We had the pleasure of seeing them live at Bread & Butter on the feet of one of the Sneakers ‘N Stuff people and they came out great!
