Coarse Toys “Casting Shadows Switch To Fall” Box Set

Coarse Toys “Casting Shadows Switch To Fall” Box Set

After their recent ‘Casting Shadows’ toy box set, Coarse is back with the ‘Casting Shadows Switch To Fall’ box set, in time for the new season.

“The hunched noop and nervous nism hide in soft black sponge, waiting to be saved. They are protected in a heavy hand crafted cardboard box, 6 tone printed and stamped with nism’s eye of gold. Pull at the ‘noop’ and ‘nism’ fabric tags to reveal the two shaken souls. In the kite bag, you will find the noop’s paw! kite. Set it up and let the paw! loom high above the troubled duo, tinted with red and golden autumn accents and surrounded by c-o-a-r-s-e leaves, as their world begins to crumble around them.”

As usual Coarse does not stop as simply producing a toy, but rather creating an entire small world around it. The outcome is as usual beautiful and perfectly executed. The box set goes on sale July 18th, 2011.

Coarse Toys got together with toy store and gallery Rotofugi to collaborate on their Jaws character. The outcome is a darker version of the toy, looking equally hot as the original. They will soon release this collaborative version, which is limited to 100 pieces. It comes nicely wrapped and with a cool set of accessories, such as a real plywood skateboard. The craftsmanship applied on the Coarse toys is unseen on most toys these days and certainly impressive. You can register until March 3rd to get one of the toys upon release.

coarse jaws toy 1 Coarse Jaws Toy

We are following the designer toy market now for several years and just like with many other markets that gain popularity, the toy market has also seen a massive increase in releases. Among these releases you find some interesting new toys, but they can of course not all be good.

When recently visiting the Coarse exhibition in Berlin, we were for once again pleasently surprised to see a series of well designed and also well constructed toys. Their most prominent figure, entitled “Jaws”, has now been released. Not only the toy itself is constructed in the highest quality, also the attention to detail on the toy and its accessories are very impressive.

Coarse Toys Exhibition @ 4010 Berlin | Preview

10 December 2008, 20.30 | Posted in Art, Designer Toys | No comments »

coarse exhibition 4010 berlin 1 Coarse Toys Exhibition @ 4010 Berlin | Preview

We had the pleasure of checking out the Coarse Toys exhibition right before the opening today. Most of you should be familiar with the Hong Kong based premium toy makers. With most of their toys being handmade in very limited quantities, Coarse sets a standard for the market and keeps on impressing us.

Similar to their recent exhibition in Chicago, Coarse shows their latest figures at the 4010 store in Berlin Mitte from tonight. A couple of new characters joined the exhibition since Chicago and they are definitely worth checking out. You can see and feel the craftsmanship involved in each toy, which makes it a much better experience. When you sometimes feel like the designer toy movement has been too explored in recent years, Coarse brings it back to what it used to be.

Aside from checking out the exhibition, you can also purchase Coarse t-shirts and a couple of other accessories. Our favorite, the large Shark toy unfortunately goes for 15′000 USD. It is limited to only five pieces worldwide and handmade. In case you have some cash left over, you might want to consider.

Now head on after the jump to check out the complete Coarse Toys Exhibition.
