Puma Basket 68 – Comic Print

03 January 2008, 15.54 | Posted in Sneakers | No comments »

Puma Basket 68 Comic
Although it resembles other Puma sneakers from the recent YO! MTV Raps series, this Puma Basket 68 Print is actually inspired by comic book illustrations from the early ‘70s. The shoe reflects the bright and crazy colors of early comics, at that time mainly characterized by Roy Lichtenstein. The shoes sport this wild pattern on the inside and out. They come in two colorways – the multi colored one with a black/grey liner, and a black/grey with the wild colors on the inside.
They are now available at Overkill. After the jump some more detailed images of both sneakers.

Supreme x Robert Crumb

04 October 2007, 12.50 | Posted in Art, Fashion | No comments »

RTEmagicC supreme robert 4.jpg Supreme x Robert Crumb
Robert Dennis Crumb is an American artist and illustrator recognized for the distinctive style of his drawings and his critical, satirical and subversive view of the American mainstream.

In 1968, R. Crumb self-published the first issue of Zap Comix and its success quickly established Crumb as the best-known artist of the underground comics movement.
Crumb’s artwork references details commonly found in early 20th-century cartoon styles. However, his stories are frequently satirical, sexual and politically outrageous.

In the pages of Zap, the East Village Other, OZ, Motor City, Yellow Dog and scores of other comics, Crumb created characters that soon became symbols of a subculture: Mr. Natural, Angelfood McSpade, Flakey Foont, and Crumb’s Fritz the Cat, have all become widely known cult icons. For over three decades, R. Crumb has shocke, entertained and challenged the imaginations (and the inhibitions) of comic fans all over the world.

Supreme produced a series of two t-shirts and a zip-up hoodie incorporating the artwork of R. Crumb. This series will be available mid-October at Supreme stores.
Check out detailed pictures of the collaborative pieces after the jump.
