To celebrate the opening of the Hurley Laguna Beach Flagship store and the 2D art show done in Hawaii at the Contemporary Art Museum, Hurley produced a pair of custom board shorts designed by world renowned artist Dalek. Working with the standard surf shape, Dalek outfitted the shorts with his signature multi-colored geometric shapes. Limited to 100 pieces. Now available at In4mants.com.

Curated reported heavily about Dalek’s recent 2D exhibition in Honolulu, Hawaii. Now the artist has also released a limited edition print for the show. The print comes limited to only 50 pieces and is both numbered and signed by Dalek. You can purchase it for 100 USD here now.

World-renowned artist Dalek is in Honolulu, Hawaii this week preparing for a show of new work at Soho Mixed Media Bar. In4mation produced a special Dalek x In4mation x Contrast x The Contemporary Museum tee for the event that is now available at the Ward location. Additionally, our partners at Curated Mag are covering his activity in the days leading up to the exhibition.

“In the days before the opening, Dalek is busying himself by creating several pieces of art especially for Soho Mixed Media Bar. A interesting exhibition is just around the corner – Dalek and Delta get together to showcase their work at Elms Lesters Painting Rooms in London. Both artists are known for their excellent use of color and shape. The exhibition will run from August 28th until September 26th. Definitely something to look out for!

We reported about the Dalek and Mike Giant exhibition which opened last week in Paris. Our friends of BKRW sat down with Dalek to talk about his latest works and specifically about the move from more character driven art to patterns in this new exhibition. Check it out!

The Magda Danysz Gallery is pleased to welcome two major artists from the street art scene who have developed very unique styles of their own : Dalek and Mike Giant. Though they have very different styles they talk about the same culture, the same influences and the same world.

Dalek is one of the artists who just like Shepard Fairey, Dave Kinsey, and Twist (aka Barry McGee) is taking the old school styles of graffiti while exposing the work to a whole new audience.

Mike Giant has added the whole tattoo culture to his graffiti background. He started writing in 1989. Early on, he was influenced by his graffiti partners a lot, as well as by writers like Twist, Rem, and KR. A habit he has kept from his graffiti years as now, Mike Giant uses words as the building blocks of language.

The exhibition runs from April 25th until May 23rd. Example works of both artists follow after the jump.

We present you the latest addition to the Zune Originals Artist Series. Once again they managed to get some prominent names on board to grace the music player with their artwork. Zune worked with Dalek, Gemini and Emil Kozak in this latest run.

One of the greatest things for us is always to meet like-minded people from around the world and thankfully it also is a worldwide movement. It might sometimes does not seem that way, as we mostly report about US, Japanese and some European brands, but in the end of the day it is global. Proof is once again, when Carrot Clothing from Serbia hit us up recently.
The rather young brand is making big waves in their country and presents some nice collaborations in their new Fall/Winter 2008 collection. They got together with 123 Klan, Dalek and B-Shit on t-shirts, fitted caps and skatedecks as part of their collection, which also offers a lot of skate inspired cut & sew pieces.

Today we present you an interesting collaboration effort between hardcore band Internal Affairs, the infamous artist James Marshall, aka Dalek and Triumvir. The Internal Affairs’ album drop will be released on 12” LP’s that will come in four different colors – black for general release, clear for Triumvir, blue for Internal Affairs and green for Dalek. For this release, the pack will consist of the 12” LPs as mentioned before and a limited edition Dalek Tee. All the album and T-shirt artwork were created anddesigned by James Marshall. All products released are produced by Triumvir.

Fresh, Standard, Shoe Gallery, Suru, Avenue, Capsule, Just Be Complex, Tradition, Deathwish and Rev Records. The t-shirts are limited to 100 and 150 pieces worldwide.

Infectious launched yesterday and is a community of artists and art-worshippers who create art for cars.  The initial catalog has been created by Dalek, Buff Monster, Si Scott, Junko Mizuno, Jon Burgerman, MAD, Blaine Fontana, Cycle, Nico Berry, Emil Kozak, Zeptonn and Erik Otto. They’ll also soon be launching a submissions section on the website, so that any artist will have the opportunity to participate in the project.
Definitely an interesting new project. If you want to pimp your ride a little and want it to look a bit different from what there is out there for the moment, you should definitely check out Infectious.
