Time Magazine sits down with Damien Hirst. They talk about his spot paintings and why he wanted to put them in so many galleries at the same time, the meaning behind the spots, his diamond encrusted skull and his worth, which seems to be a little lower than in this recent listing of the richest living artists. Enjoy!

“Ryan Hope’s debut film, Skin, is a documentary that tests the boundaries of art and the human body, Skin is a dark, stylish examination of tattoo culture as high art.
Featuring contributions from Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons and Raymond Pettibon and in association with Dasha Zhukova’s Garage Magazine, the film is a beautiful visual essay from the frontiers of contemporary British art.”

The much anticipated Garage Magazine will release its first issue for Fall/Winter 2011. Named after the art space that founder Dasha Zhukova opened in 2008 in Moscow, nobody really knows what to expect from the fashion/art magazine, yet expectations are certainly high. The art director of German 032c magazine is also the new art director of Garage magazine and the three covers for the first issue, only hint at the high profile talent that the magazine managed to bring together for its first issue.
Artist Dinos Chapman worked with photographer Nick Knight, Hedi Slimane photographed a naked model (Shauna Taylor) having a Damien Hirst butterfly tattoo on her crotch, which is covered by a removable Damien Hirst butterfly sticker on the cover. And last but not least Richard Prince also created an artwork for the a third cover. A launch of the magazine is expected during New York Fashion Week 2011, early September.
Check out all three covers after the jump.
