In an interesting mash-up, French brand LAQ has teamed up with Darcel creator Craig Redman on a capsule furniture collection, centered around his by now popular Darcel character.
“The meeting of the founders of LAQ, Raphaël and Pascal, with Craig Redman, gave birth to a Darcel shown in 3D, a product of the encounter of contemporary culture and ancient techniques. Made of resin, wood and painted metal, mother-of-pearl and eggshell, this high definition version of Darcel, coming from a psychedelic universe, hip and disillusioned, also offers hidden storage in its eye, like the secretive stately furniture of the seventeenth century. A radical confrontation of periods, styles and ideas!”
The outcome of the collection are two stools and a sculpture, all three being showcased soon at colette in Paris. The Parisian concept store will also sell them.

“Craig Redman is a New York based artist, with whom colette has been collaborating to extract his character Darcel from his blog. For the first time now, we have an exhibition entirely dedicated to him. From May 3rd to 29th Darcel’s inner world goes meta with “And a miserable day to you too”, as he explores everyday trivialities through painting, prints, sculptures and, of course, movie animation.” The above sculpture is one of the stand out products now available for purchase.
