The Trilogy Exhibition at The Ring Art Center - Dan Colen, Ryan McGinley, Dash Snow

After checking out Wynwood Walls & Doors, the Wynwood Walls Exhibition and producing a nice video about the experience, the MADE team makes it over to The Ring Art Center to check out The Trilogy Exhibition.

Curated by Sonia Taborda, works shown are by Ryan McGinley, Dan Colen and Dash Snow. None of the works on display are actually for sale, but shown is an entirely private collection by two Portuguese collectors. Running until December 8th, 2011, one artwork by each artist will be auctioned off on Saturday, with all proceeds going to charity.

The idea behind the exhibition is to bring back to live the work of Dash Snow among artwork of his close friends. The exhibition runs until November 6th, so make sure to pass by.

UPDATE: KR painted the entrance to galerie du jour for this show (as seen here). KR says, “I just happened to be in Paris, and the last time I was there was with Dash and Ryan for a show at Gallery du Jour, So Agnes thought it would be cool if I painted something.”

Dash Snow | A Community Memorial at Deitch Projects NYC

Dash Snow | A Community Memorial at Deitch Projects NYC

Dash Snow’s friends and family have joined together to create an open memorial exhibition at Deitch Projects, where the facade of the gallery has been painted over with a fire extinguisher version of Dash’s tag, SACER.

We have asked friends to bring photographs and video of Dash and works of art made for Dash and works made in his memory. Friends have also brought in special works by Dash from their own collections. A group of previously unseen Polaroids from Dash’s studio are also included.

The memorial project also has an open wall where Dash’s friends and admirers can write, paint or paste artworks and texts in his memory. Visitors are encouraged to bring flowers to throw into the main gallery where images of Dash and his own works are exhibited. Dash’s community of friends is invited to bring in additional images and works during the run of the show.

RTEmagicC dash book 1.jpg The End Of Living The Beginning Of Survival by Dash Snow
The latest book by NYC artist Dash Snow has just entered the Colette online store. Always manoeuvring on the edge of social norms and putting his own physical capacities to the test, it is the quest for a social model of life that characterises Dash Snow’s entire oeuvre.

In addition to the assemblages and sculptures focusing on excess and withdrawal, love and transitoriness, the artist presents around 200 new collages in this book. The 242 page book is now available for 90 Euros.
After the jump some more pictures.
