The Xander has certainly gained in popularity recently, mainly due to several collaborations with brands and stores. As part of the DC Life Summer 2009 Collection the high top sneaker returns in a duct tape/grip tape look.

We bring you another preview of the DC Life Summer 2009 Collection. The elements rush in with the breathable perforated leather upper of the Dress Sneaker and the cool blue nautical cotton twill of the Dress Sneaker DSTX and the Volcano DSTX. DC definitely presents a strong collection this season, keeping it mostly subtle and on point. Especially the Dress Sneaker has become a favorite of ours.

DC is proud to introduce the PK Ripper Fixed Gear, the third installment in a series of limited edition bike projects from DC and SE Racing, all designed to embrace the heritage of the brand and the sport. A collector’s item, the PK Ripper Fixed Gear bike production will be limited to only 2,500 bikes worldwide.

The Fixed Gear collaboration mixes a touch of 1970’s bike nostalgia with modern bike performance features. Inspirations for the PK Ripper Fixed Gear bike‘s design aesthetic stem directly from the original DC x SE Racing PK Ripper collaboration. The new fixed gear bike design details are directly inspired from the classic PK Ripper BMX bike, complete with Floval tubing, Landing Gear fork and Looptail rear end. This blend of old school BMX and a modern fixed gear bike not only takes its cues from the PK Ripper BMX construction but also its colorways—Matte Black and Ball Burnished Silver.

The DC PK Ripper Fixed Gear bike’s Matte Black and Ball Burnished Silver colorways will both be limited to only 1,250 each worldwide. The bike will be available for $1,000 at select boutiques and specialty bike shops worldwide. The bike comes out on July 15th.

After a first initial preview last week, we can give you a more detailed look and more information on the latest DC Remix Series Project. Once again DC worked with Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, this time on their Xander high top sneaker.

Mike chose traditional Japanese patterns and koi scale textures for his shoe and packaging; the sole features custom fish scale tooling created just for this project and artwork sublimated underneath. The many patterns in the in-box booklet and packaging reference fabrics and origami paper patterns that surrounded Shinoda growing up.

We take a closer look at some new styles from the DC Life Summer 2009 Collection. Due to good colorways, nice choices of materials and a number of collaborations, DC has pushed nicely their DC Life collection in recent seasons.

For Summer 2009 the collection once again look solid and offers premium leather versions of their sneakers, as well as some solid canvas versions.

Since his late teens he has been spreading skateboarding/alternative art culture from California to New York and back again, and is credited as the one who actually gave birth to the current alternative art scene. Once again the collaboration of DC Shoes and Aaron Rose results in a subtle, well designed footwear collection, with just the right amount of details.

DC and UXA got together and have just released the limited edition Ryan Smith 2.0S “The Big Apple” collaboration. Designed by Peter Huynh, Jefferson Pang and Peter Bici, the mid cut pro shoe is inspired purely by skateboarding lifestyle in the Big Apple. The colors were drawn from the philosophy of form and function in which the thought that a good looking maneuver is not complete without a good looking shoe. The Smith 2.0S UXApple is a full-on skateboarding shoe with the utmost support and features.

Feature of the shoe include a super suede upper, perforated panels, foam padded tongue and an UXA logo hit on the heel, as well as an apple embroidery on the side of the heel. Look out for these in better skate stores now.

After working with Lemar & Dauley and others, DC continues to push the Xander with collaborations. Once again they worked with Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park. The sneaker comes with a clean white leather upper, beige leather accents and green graphics and signature. It also features a fish scale clear rubber sole. The sneaker is now available at Standard.

Skate photographer Mike Blabac teams up with powerHouse and with DC Shoes on his latest project, releasing later this summer.

“This summer, legendary skate photog Mike Blabac is releasing BLABAC PHOTO – The Art of Skateboarding Photography with powerHouse Books. To commemorate this achievement and to thank him for a decade of work as the exclusive skate photographer for the brand, DC is releasing the Blabac Azure Mid shoe.”
