Kaws Sobukun “JJP” Vinyl Toy

24 July 2008, 03.33 | Posted in Designer Toys | No comments »

highsnobiety - Kaws Sobukun Vinyl Toy
Rumors have been floating around in the net all week about the release of the Kaws Sobukun "JJP" figure and we just got it confirmed. The latest toy by the New York artist was inspired by the Japanese police mascot and of course it gets remixed by Kaws with his trademark cross eyes, crosses on hands and feet as well as the bones on the head. As usual, the toy was produced by Medicom.
The Kaws Sobukun toy will be released on Saturday at Original Fake Tokyo as well as at Kawsone already tomorrow at 12pm EST, and it will come in a yellow and a black colorway.  It looks like Kawsone will only release the yellow colorway, but we could not confirm that. Let the hunt begin.
After the jump larger images of both toys.

christies pop culture auction - highsnobiety
After the recent pop culture auction at Phillips De Pury & Company, we see now a major auction house also moving in this direction. Christie’s is about to hold their pop culture auction next month.
"Christie’s Pop Culture auction slated for Wednesday, June 25th 2008 @ their Rockefeller Center location features a wide variety of entertainment collectibles. Mixed in with the movie, television and comic collectibles are several designer toy lots . In addition to Amanda Visell’s custom 20" Gnome Eating Bat Munny (est. $3000 – $5000) and Sket One’s 20" Kong Dunny (est $3000 – $5000), there are several other lots that caught our eye. Sucklord is represented with four lots including a great Gay Empire Attack! display (est. $1500 – $2000) shown above (Image: Christie’s ).

Beyond the custom pieces, there are several production figures up for launch — including a lot of 3 full unopened Dunny sets : Dunny LA, Colette, and Tattoo ($2000 – $3000). There are several other Dunny lots as well — Gary Baseman, Deph and Huck Gee (HMNI) . Joe Ledbetter collectors will be interested in the Mr. Bunny lot ($1k – $2k) as well as his "The Defender" painting ($3000 – $5000)." Via Vinylpulse.
It is great seeing artists and designers that we feature on a daily, appear in this more serious art environment. It seems like interest outside of our niche market is starting to pick up. More info on the auction and everything that will be auctioned off, you can check here.

This is the magnification of the “Little Green Army Men” based on the plastic-molded soldiers from the Disney-animated franchise Toy Story. The official Toy Story black Sarge stands 12″ tall and it is fully posable, for example, the gun-wielding arm is bendable with it’s fully articulated skeleton. The body is produced with soft vinyl “toy-feel” plastic to reflect movie likeness!
The special version from CLOT x 3Mix x How2work is a black soldier instead of green, with a sealed red CLOT logo on the left standing plate. The CLOT x 3Mix x How2Work Toy Soldier is a Limited Collectible. The cardboard package printed with “Leave no man behind” the policy on the front which the black soldiers are quite disciplined. fendi bearbricks - highsnobiety
The Fendi window decorations around the globe are changing this week and will be displaying the new Bearbrick setup. If you thought a 1000% Bearbrick was big, than wait what Fendi has ready for you – not sure if the official name is a 6000% Bearbrick, but that best describes the size of the toys.
For all the collectors out there Medicom also made some 400% Fendi Bearbricks and a 100% box set. Since the Bearbricks have been made to celebrate the most famous Fendi bag and its 10th anniversary, there are 10 Bearbricks in the box set each with a season printed on the back. Pics via Secretbase.
