range rover evoque event paris 1 Range Rover Evoque Event Recap Paris featuring Juliette Lewis and A Trak

A couple of days ago we reported about the wire frame structures that Surface 2 Air, Andre, JC de Castelbajac and Yogor Tloupas of Intersection Magazine created for the Range Rover Evoque launch event in Paris. We hunted down the structures early this week, as they were placed all around the city in Paris. Afterwards we had the time to sit down with each one of the artists and talk about their individual creations and much more. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac ended up giving us a quick tour of his personal history, his start in fashion and art and it was great hearing it first hand, especially from somebody that has lived through so many different and important eras of the fields.

Anyways, the same night Range Rover held the official launch party. All of Paris, some of London and Berlin, were in the house to attend the party, which took place on a boat on the Seine. Beautiful setting and Juliette Lewis with The New Romantiques were on stage to start off the night on the right foot. They were followed by DJ A-Trak. The party was so full, that the boat actually never managed to take off as planned.

After the jump some impressions from the night.

Video – A Conversation with A-Trak

25 March 2010, 18.20 | Posted in Music | No comments »

Today we came across an interesting video interview with DJ A-Trak, that is definitely worth checking out.

“A-Trak is not an uncommon name in this crazy music industry. We all know this humble story of this Montreal-er – a multiple DMC Champion handpicked by Kanye West to be his touring DJ, co-founder of Fool’s Gold Records, a pioneer in this electro dance scene, an avid twitter-er, a renowned hotel reviewer and the list goes on. EIKNARF and Asian Dan in collaboration with Media Contender & Kloud had the opportunity to be invited into Alain’s apartment/studio to get a candid view into how he got to where he is, what it took to get there and where he is going.”

Executive Producer: Media Contender- (mediacontender.com)
Producer: EIKNARF-(EIKNARF.com)

Duck Sauce is new musical collaboration between DJ A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, blending classic disco house with modern day production thump, (and apparently hollering at ducks.) Duck Sauce’s 4 track “Greatest Hits” EP is slated for a September release, but the 2 main tracks “aNYway” and “You’re Nasty” will be making their rounds this summer with Beatport DJs worldwide. A-Trak is excited to see how this one grows, and quite frankly so are we.

Check the behind the scenes interview to hear the duo talk about their influences, techniques and awesome name.

Here’s a snap at a New Era, that Skoold In Korectnuss has done for DJ-Atrack’s Capture the Flag New Era Cap. It was designed about a year ago but is now finally dropping in stores this month – the wait is over.
An A-track X Skoold In Korectnuss joint. The cap features custom inner silk lining “Sunglasses is a Must” and “Skoold In Korectnuss”. In terms of style the cap is exactly what we are used from Skooled In Korectnuss, a wild design on the upper, but still in a way oldschool. Look out for the cap to be released this month.
