Estevan Oriol presents in time for the new year his ‘L.A. Woman’ 2012 Calendar. “The new calender is comprised of shots of women from in, and around the Los Angeles area. Some of the L.A. women featured through the 12-month calendar include XXL’s 2009 Eye Candy of the Year, Rosa Acosta; models Justene Jaro and Erica Ocampo; and TV host Emily Rose, Angela Copeland, and Amiee Josellia, among others.” Limited to only 200 copies, the calendar is now available online for 35 USD.

Estevan Oriol took his Falken Tire Ford Flex to go visit Danny D, at his custom paint shop. Danny breaks down the part he plays in the LA street, custom-car culture. “He’s one of the few guys that can pinstripe, airbrush, and paint himself. He don’t have a website, he’s been getting all his work by word-of-mouth for the past 20 years.”
Diamond Supply Co. has worked with photographer Estevan Oriol and Cassie Ventura. Oriol shot Cassie Ventura especially for this capsule line of t-shirts. The outcome are overall 4 t-shirt designs, each coming in black and white, all available now at Primitive.

“Falken Tires invited me and my Ford Flex to the Formula drift in Long Beach for the opening day,i ran into a bunch of my people down there ,Mr. Cartoon was there promoting his Metro PCS phone , Ben Baller,Slick,Murs,Punk ass from Tapout,Jarod Deanda was the MC,and Victor Carillo and his People were running the show .It was wild ,slod out .i did a ride along with Falken driver James Dean(thats really his name).another Falken driver Vaughn Gittin Jr won that day,so it was a great day all in all for Falken.”

Stussy keeps them coming, especially in their 30th anniversary season. Next up is a collaboration with Carrie Munden and her Cassette Playa brand. The collection consists of leggins, tops, t-shirts, dresses, denim jackets and more and of course features the usual bold graphics by the UK brand, mixed with some classic Stussy graphics. The collection will be released in April 2010 and the lookbook was shot by none other than Estevan Oriol.

Former club bouncer and Los Angeles native Estevan Oriol got his start in the entertainment business managing tours for huge artists like “House of Pain” and “Cypress Hill” almost 20 years ago. While globe trotting with them he began his photography career taking flicks of the madness and glitter that surrounds international celebrities. When he was back home in L.A though, it was a much different story. He took his cues from the street life surrounding him. The singular dramatic black and white photos he produces are gripping, beautiful, and authentically menacing portraits of individuals fully immersed in L.A gang lifestyle. Blessed with a talented eye and a hood pass, he takes pictures in places armed with a camera where most tough guys would take a weapon. Offered for the first time to the public for free, in this exclusive interview from The Run Up, Estevan Oriol expresses his thoughts, methods, and views on approaching everyday with the hunger of a hustler who doesn’t know where his next meal will come from.
