By now the first 5 silhouettes from the Ransom x adidas collection have arrived at retailers around the world. Here’s a final look into the drop of The Pier, Valley, Summit, Dune and Creek, by way of the official release at Toronto’s Ransom Holding Co. flagship store that took place on October 31st, 2009. “Go forth onto the never ending path”.

This past weekend we spent a couple of days in Stockholm to attend the celebration of the Absolut Art Collection. Over the last 30 years, the Swedish brand has worked with an impressive number of high profile artists, communicating the values and quality of the brand and product. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the brand, Absolut has announced this week that the Absolut Art Collection will find a permanent home in Stockholm Sweden, managed by the Museum of wine and spirits. Furthermore the brand has announced a creative collaboration with Spike Jonze on an upcoming short film, that we can hopefully show you soon.

The Absolut Art Collection includes works by Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Helmut Newton, Damien Hirst, Louise Bourgeois, David Shrigley, Douglas Gordon, Sylvie Fleury, Dan Wolgers, Hung Tung-Lu and hundreds of other artists, designers and photographers. If the collection represents the brand’s creative history, Spike Jonze represents the future of its creative collaborations.

Absolut invited some of the artists they have worked with in the past to Stockholm. During a panel discussion they talked about commissioned work and whether it is more of a career boost or of a sell out. David Shrigley, Silvie Fleury, Dan Wolgers and Douglas Gordon participated in the panel and it was very interesting hearing their opinions on the subject. Furthermore their pieces of art from the Absolut Art Collection were on display, along with the works of Hung Tung Lu, Keren Cytter, and Carsten Höller.

Be prepared for a good mixture of Cali Love and southern hospitality as 10.Deep brings Fool’s Gold Record’s newest signee Donnis to the Golden State. This West Coast swing starts Oct 16th in LA with 10.Deep and Donnis flooding Fairfax’s fitted emporium Hall of Fame with music and beer. The performance will be followed by a swanky after-party at the Sofitel’s Stone Rose.

Oct 17th the event moves to the trolley tracked city of San Fran for a show and celebration at Milk Bar. All events will feature an all-star line-up of DJs and gift bags will be given out, also featuring the new 10.Deep x Donnis tee, that you see here above. The t-shirt will also be released on October 16th in the 10.Deep online store.

After the recently held Pigalle Tournament in Paris, the industry is once again getting together for a basketball tournament. This time teams including Nike Sportswear, Bread & Butter, Pain O Chokolat, BKRW, Wood Wood, Vans and others will be competing at the PX (Pigalle & XBerg) Tournament in Berlin. Berlin lost in Paris in the final and are eager to win back the trophy. Aside from the games there will also be some good food and three DJ’s providing music. The event takes place on Saturday, September 5th, and will guarantee some interesting matches.

On Monday we attended the official launch of the new Absolut Vodka Rock Edition launch. The new edition of the bottle comes wrapped in leather and studs, similar to the design we are used to see from designer Natalia Brilli, who also exhibited some of her pieces at the launch event.

For the occasion Absolut organized a massive launch event in Berlin. The free drinks of course helped. Natalia Brillis leather instruments were on display, along with artist guitars and more. For music that evening they had Wolfmother, Smith & Drums and DJ Alex come in.

Next week Berlin will be getting very busy. Bread & Butter is back in town and around the fashion tradeshow of course a lot more is going on. Nike Sportswear will be hosting the IAM1 Journey exhibition, which celebrations the evolution of the Air Max 1. The exhibition is opening on Monday at the Nike Spiritroom in Berlin and will run the entire week, while you will see some of the most interesting Air Max 1 releases at Overkill and Wood Wood Berlin. The two stores will be getting a worldwide exclusive pre-release next week, but more on that soon.

We visited the Shepard Fairey exhibition at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Berlin over the weekend. On Saturday they opened the Print Retrospective 1997-2009 exhibition. Especially in the context of his recent stardom it was interesting seeing his earlier works again, next to his new ones. The huge publicity push that the artist got with the Obama artwork, was certainly also reflected in the prices of his prints.

The exhibition is running until July 11th, so make sure to pass by.
