Recently Vans OTW held a massive event in Berlin during Bread & Butter and invited not only their latest advocates, including Lupe Fiasco, to town, but also Mos Def. They performed on stage in Berlin for hundreds of fans that had to fight to get a ticket for the exciting evening.

On Wednesday night Vans launched its Spring 2012 OTW footwear line during Berlin Fashion Week as part of a 3-day pop-up House of Vans experience featuring live performances by the Patta Sound System, Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) and new OTW advocate Lupe Fiasco.

The free exhibition by the Vans OTW advocates included photography by Parisian Dimitri Coste, an art installation by Brooklyn-based Eric Elms and vinyl toy art and sculptures by Hong Kong resident and new OTW advocate Chris Kong.

Lupe Fiasco performed crowd favorites “Kick, Push” and “Superstar.” Live music played throughout the venue and Yasiin Bey brought the house down with an inspired performance of classic favorites and new material.

Yesterday ahead of Art Basel Miami, design fair Design Miami opened its doors for the preview day, showcasing the work of exhibitors from around the globe.

“Among this year’s highlights are a solo exhibition of the work by architect, sculptor, inventor and morphologist Dr. Haresh Lalvani at Moss Gallery, Studio Job’s Containers II series at VIVID Gallery, a site-specific installation by Designer of the Year Award winner David Adjaye, and Erwin Redl’s installation Crystal Matrix II at Swarovski Crystal Palace. As part of the show’s series of satellite exhibitions, the Miami Design District presents in collaboration with the Buckminster Fuller Foundation, utopian architect Fuller’s 1970s Fly’s Eye Dome alongside Lord Norman Foster’s reconstructed Dymaxion car.”

Last Friday G-Shock kicked off their new global event series, Urban Proof, in Berlin, following up on the Shock The World Tour.

The evening started off with DJ’s, beatboxers and artists battling it out against each other on stage, in front of a big crowd in the Berlin Kreuzberg district. Next to showcasing the latest G-Shock watches to be released in the coming weeks and months, the entire place was nicely outfitted with G-Shock design inspired objects and product – from G-Shock oversized cushions, skatedecks to G-Shock watches engraved into large stones and projected onto the walls, you clearly knew what you came for. Heavily branded? Sure, but for the most part tasteful, thus it did not bother us at all. The more chill battle part at the beginning of the night was followed by a full on party until late. Berlin knows how to party, but we all knew that before.

As part of the next Pitti Uomo 81, taking place January 2012 in Florence, they have teamed up with Tokyo Fashion Week to bring the VERSUS TOKYO project to Italy. First started in Tokyo this season, the project brings together a line-up of 20 Japanese brands that are still today, even though some of them have been around for a while, not very well known outside of Japan. This coming January mastermind JAPAN, Sasquatchfabric, SOE and Phenomenon among others, will be showing their collections to the European market. We cannot wait to check it out and report from the event.

On November 25th, 2011, G-Shock will be celebrating its URBAN PROOF event in Berlin. For the occasion the watch brand has invited 10 international artists to compete in the categories Urban Art, Soundsystem, Beatbox and Breakdance. For the battles G-Shock and splash! each have put together teams to compete against each other in the various disciplines.

Urban Proof is the continuation of the SHOCK THE WORLD TOUR that toured the globe in the last couple of years. US Beatbox legend Rahzel (The Roots) will compete against French talent Eklips and Marsimoto Sound System will have to proof itself against other contestants, which you can be sure will be some exciting battles to be watching live.

After the battles, there will of course be the official party with acts including Murkage, DJ Ron and Hudson Mohawke.

Last night the much anticipated 2011 Victoria Secret Fashion Show went down. Next to Maroon 5 and Nicki Minaj, Kanye West also performed on stage and brought a surprise with him – Jay-Z. West was already supposed to perform at the show a couple of years ago, but had to cancel at the time, due to his mother’s passing.

The show obviously provided for the usual eye candy and unlike most other fashion shows takes a much more fun approach, with models dancing, clapping and just in general being more relaxed. Kanye was on stage wearing his upcoming Nike Air Yeezy 2 sneaker and the bomber jacket from the soon to release Versace for H&M collection.

This week, Le Baron opened up in London’s Mayfair area. Originally established in Paris by André Saraiva, the new Le Baron London locale promises the same French attitude and rock n’ roll vibe. For the opening, André and his close friend Olivier Zahm (of Purple Magazine) outfitted the space with various street art and photography installations, while Phil Bush provided the music.
