This fall, Brixton continues to expands its offerings with a new original line of outerwear and updated colors for their signature collection of hats. Standouts include the Debaser – a vintage military jacket with a tailored fit, black satin lining and shoulder epaulets – as well as two new fedoras: the longer billed Jones and the straw Delta. Stussy has worked together with New Era on two wool fedora hats. The hat comes in brown and in khaki and features on the strap both the Stussy and the New Era logo. The hats are now available at Stussy Direct.

Last week we presented you the new black straw Fedora hat by Neighborhood. This week we take a look at the new hat by WTAPS. It also comes in black straw, buthas a silk strap wrapped around. Much like a classic English silk tie in terms of style, we really like this little detail, which gives the hat a much more sophisticated look.

New Era caps have been all over the place now since almost 2 years. Recently we saw the re-emergence of Kangol and with that we also see other more classic hat stylesre-appear on the surface.

The much anticipated Evil Monito x Kangol collaboration Cabby and Fedora hats have now finally been released. We have given you an extensive preview of the hats here, make sure to check them out again. Each hat is going for 160 USD in the Evil Monito store.

A couple of months ago we presented you the black cashmere Fedora fitted cap by SSUR and New Era. This time we present you a new colorway in woven wool textile coming in a grey/black colorway. It features a blue feather embroidery and the SSUR signature embroidered on the side. Definitely also a nice cap to look forward to. Via Strictly Fitteds.

This project between Evil Monito and Kangol has been in the air for a while and now that we are getting close to the release, we can finally show you the impressive product that is coming out of this collaboration.
Rickey Kim is a native of Los Angeles and the first from his Korean family to be born in America. As a student at UCSD, Rickey founded Evil Monito [EM] – www.evilmonito.com – an online magazine rooted in the goal of “Deconstructing Pop Culture” through theoretical means. Evil Monito, in its six year existence, has become recognized as a worldwide phenomenon, with readership numbering in the millions. Currently he handles multiple hustles and is the Creative Director of Riottt. Most recently Rickey has established the Evil Monito Studio, a creative consulting agency.
Rickey Kim used this project as a platform to be creative and honest with his emotions and to work through his past, specifically the relationship with his father. The two hats that were created in this project carry many details that express Mr. Kim’s emotional path.
The project consists of overall two hats – a Cabby and a Fedora. The Classic Cabby model was revisited utilizing British Millerain Wax Cotton, the classic royal hunting fabric that has been used over ages in Great Britain. This fabric was chosen as an homage to Kangol’s traditional British roots. The Felt Fedora model did not exist in the Kangol hat range. This hat was created from the ground up assigning a classic hat manufacturer in Pennsylvania. This silhouette is classic in every shape and form. The hat is made of water resistant felt and is crushable (meaning you may touch the hat in different shapes and it will still retain its form).
Each hat is lined with satin lining that was custom created from a graphic layout of photo montages of Evil Monito founder – Rickey Kim’s family images. In the center of the hat is a classic crest that Mr. Kim designed along with his last name “Kim” written in Korean calligraphy. This is the first time in Kangol’s 70 year history, that it has embraced such a personal story of the Korean American journey. This particular project with Mr. Kim/Evil Monito follows an already impressive lineup of such collaborative work that Kangol has conducted this year thus far:  Junya Watanabe/Comme Des Garcons, WESC We Are The Superlative Conspiracy and Hiroshi Fujiwara/Fragment Design.

It’s incredible how many new brands get into the cap/hat market these days. It has been quite for such a long time with New Era ruling it all, thus it’s good to see that they at least try to challenge them a bit. The latest newcomer that we came across is the Ampal Creative. In their first collection they present a range of both fitted caps and fedora hats. Once again it’s the details that make the Ampal Creative hats special – the fedora with the stingray band, the logo on the fitted with a nice pin, etc.

Here you see the latest New Era cap by SSUR. The artists recreated the famous Fedora hat in the form of a New Era – very smart idea and the execution with simple colors and cashmere tops it off.

The Fedora was made infamous by prohibition-era gangsters like Al Capone and became a class act with actors Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney.
