A.P.C. Store NYC

RTEmagicC apc ny 2.jpg A.P.C. Store NYC
The New York Times has visited the A.P.C. store in Soho New York and written a rather lengthy article about the store.
“A.P.C. in SoHo is a study in stylish restraint.”
We could not have said it better. Having visited all A.P.C. stores in Paris, Berlin and some other places, we have to admit that the NYC space is probably the nicest one, mainly due to its generous amount of space and it’s perfect translation of A.P.C. style into interior design. If you want to know more about it, read the NYT article here.
Make sure to pass by on your next NYC visit. After the jump, more pictures of the store.

New Era “Cockney Rhyming Slang” Series

07 September 2007, 18.45 | Posted in Caps & Hats | 1 comment »

RTEmagicC ne london 1.jpg New Era Cockney Rhyming Slang Series
New Era will be launching the Cockney Rhyming Slang series today online and tomorrow in their London flagship store.
If you are unfamiliar with Cockney Rhyming Slang, it is a language originating from the streets of East London whereby a common name is replaced by a rhyming phrase (or part of). Here is a brief definition:
Traditional Cockney rhyming slang works by taking two words that are related through a short phrase and using the first word to stand for a word that rhymes with the second. For instance, “boat” means “face” as “boat race” rhymes with face. Similarly “plates” means “feet” (”plates of meat”), and bread means “money” (bread and honey).
The origins of rhyming slang are disputed. It remains a matter of speculation as to whether it was a linguistic accident or whether it was developed intentionally to confuse non-locals. If deliberate, it might have simply been used to maintain a sense of community or to be used in the marketplace for vendors to talk amongst themselves without customers knowing what they were saying. Via Wikipedia.

The caps feature well known Cockney Rhyming Slang phrases on the front and an Icon of what it represents on the rear. Overall there are five caps in the series of which we present you three – Tom Foolery / Jeweller, Custard and Jelly / Telly, How D’you do? / Shoe, Plates of Meat / Feet, Apples and Pears / Stairs.
Check out more detailed pictures of the caps after the jump.

Swagger Flagship Store Harajuku

RTEmagicC swagger harajuko 1.jpg Swagger Flagship Store Harajuku
Swagger recently opened their second flagship store in the Harajuku district of Tokyo. The new Harajuku flagship store is the realization of a longtime shared dream of owners and co-designers Big-O and Iggy.
Located centrally in the world-famous Harajuku district, where global trends are invented and explored, Swagger’s flagship is more than a store. It’s a destination spot that marries Iggy and Big-O’s love of music and fashion. The entire store is designed to look like a recording studio. World famous DJ Muro spinned hip-hop classics for the opening and limited edition pieces, designed specifically for the Harajuku opening were made available for lucky collectors who showed up early.

The store is bi-level and on September 15, 2007 Phenomenon, Big-O’s private line, will open a boutique on the second floor.
4-26-21 JINGUMAE, SHIBUYA-KU, TOKYO, JAPAN
TEL:  03-5414-1591
After the jump many more images of the beautiful new store and some of the limited edition items that were released. Most of them we have already showed you before.
