Force of Nature use the urn as a symbol for recognition of death as a part of life, and a reminder to enjoy and live our life while we have it. Last Friday, October 2nd 2009 FoN opened “The Urn Show” exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark where 15 Danish and international artists and designers decorated a traditional blank urn. The artists include Bigfoot, Andrew Schoultz and Henrik Vibskov (all pictured above) just to name a few. For a full list of artist and to bid on an urn vist Lauritz.com. All proceeds going to Drivkraeften a youth department of the Danish Cancer Treatment, with a focus on activities and contact amongst young people with cancer. Show runs until October 23, 2009.

Today we come across an interesting new collection by Danish design Hans Madsen. Hans Madsen graduated from The Royal College of Art in London in 2007, with great reviews from the press. Since then Hans has been busy: Helping Diesel with their luxury line “Diesel Black Gold”, winning numerous design awards and doing collabs with Collette in Paris just to name a few.

The exclusive collection from Hans Madsen for Force Of Nature, Copenhagen, is characteristic in its high quality materials. A key element of Madsen’s work is “Nordic folklore reinvented” with a contemporary approach to military clothing. The collection consists of a jacket, hoodie, cardigan, as well as several t-shirts, with each piece having a unique cut and look.

Force of Nature is celebrating the upcoming holidays with the The Holiday Pack. Consisting of the ecofriendly soap “Wash away Your Sins” and the homeflavoured snaps “Drink away your Sorrows”.

The soap is with exfoliant pearl barley and a cedar tree scent, produced in collaberation with Fyn based Groenlykkegaard. The Snaps is made on a Broendum base with added herbs like Achillea and Porse, gattered around the Danish countryside. The soap will be on sale from their newly opened store in Copenhagen. The snaps will only be available as a give-away for friends of the house.

FORCE OF NATURE presents three new items for fall 2008: A tee, a cap and a denim shirt.

The Bumbie tee comes in three different colorways with a screenprinted comment on nature as pure entertainment. The cap is a 100% wool black military style cap with A DEAD SERIOUS BUSINESS embroided patch on the front. Fleece-Lined Denim Shirt with two upper- and two lower frontpockets. Perfect for the cold season. A DEAD SERIOUS BUSINESS embroided patch on the chest.

Force of Nature is a design and store set-up located in Copenhagen Denmark. Dealers of the finer things in life – with a focus on products with a strong history. The store is set-up to look like a funeral home office – with a clean and discreet profile that suits our products as well as the “Life before Death” philosophy of the company.

As part of their Fall 2008 collection, Amongst Friends got together with Danish label Force Of Nature. The rather young label released their first collection last season.
The two got together for one design, which will be coming in two colorways.  The design is a rework of an old German woodcut dating back to the 15th century, dealing with the great issue of death, here with a more medical feel.
F.O.N.s mission is to cultivate the aesthetic and the Scandinavian approach to design in an unconventionel way, and often with set-off in acknowlegement of natures presence and strengh even in modern day life. Definitely a label to watch.
