Yasiin Bey AKA Mos Def introduces Harun -No.7-

Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def has recently started a design collaborative with some of his friends, called Fellowship Mission. The goals of the collective are not exactly clear yet, but Fellowship Mission is supposed to be their new creative outlet, mostly for things that happen outside of music. The first product to come out of it is the Harun -No.7-  fragrence that Yasiin worked on with his good friend Chace Infinite.

“The oils are bottled in Brooklyn, NY the cultural epicenter of America’s greatest city and contain Imported Attar from the Kamauj Uttar Padesh region of India. Harun -no. 7- is 100% natural and is free of alcohol and chemicals. In the tradition of the original oils (attar) Harun -No.7- can be used a a fragrance for the body. or burned in the home.”

Of course Union is among the very first to carry the fragrance. Here below we present a video from a trip by Yasiin Bey and Chris Gibbs from Union to Paris. Yasiin talks about Fellowship Misson, so check it out.

A further look at the Harun fragrance follows after the jump.

A New Perfume by Comme des Garcons

29 September 2011, 07.00 | Posted in Accessories | 6 comments »

Comme des Garcons 'We Can Find Beautiful Things Without Consciousness' Perfume

Comme des Garcons is about to release its latest fragrance and what we know so far about it, is already very impressive. The box of the fragrance, is made of one piece of carton paper, folded in origami style into a beautiful, yet simple, white box.

CdG takes it even further and presents an entirely new bottle design as well for this new perfume, produced of old glass, rejected and un-used by others. The outcome is a very special and organic structure of a bottle, unseen before. All in all a new fragrance product from the Japanese brand and we cannot wait to find out more about it.

The new perfume will make its retail debut October 2011

A further look at the bottle follows after the jump.

Highsnobiety TV: Behind the Scenes At Firmenich For the Creation of AXE Excite

11 August 2011, 18.25 | Posted in Highsnobiety TV | 1 comment »

Although a product like AXE Excite would not be something you would usually find on our pages, we were interested to learn recently that AXE Excite was actually created by the Swiss perfumery house, Firmenich. Co-created by Pierre Negrin, Frank Voekl, and Harry Fremont, a powerhouse trio of perfumers responsible for fragrances by the likes of Marc Jacobs, Three as Four for Colette, Oscar De La Renta, Chantecaille, Dior, Calvin Klein, Polo and many, many more, we were intrigued that AXE had enlisted perfumer royalty to create a product with an intended mass audience. AXE invited us to Firmenich’s headquarters and laboratories in midtown Manhattan to talk to Pierre, Frank, and Harry and gain an inside perspective to what goes into creating a fragrance irregardless of its price point. We think you’ll be as fascinated as we were at the blend of science and artistry involved. Enjoy!

Maison Martin Margiela Launches First Fragrance – “Untitled”

Maison Martin Margiela Launches First Fragrance - "Untitled"

The first sense of Maison Martin Margiela has come out this week and in true Margiela style it is called “Untitled”. The fragrance was launched in Paris on January 11th.

“Launched in Paris January 11, Untitled is a unisex fragrance – created by perfumer Daniela Andrier, the nose behind YSL’s Rive Gauche, Gucci Rush for men, and several Prada scents – that is described as “floral, woody, and very green” (including notes of fern) as well as “ambery and oriental.”

The unisex element as well as the typical ‘blank canvas’ packaging contribute to the notion of a non-stereotypical scent that, according to a press release, “can be worn by anyone, anywhere.”"

A better look at the new Margiela fragrance follows after the jump.
