Raf Simons continues his longstanding relationship with 100 year old British label Fred Perry for Autumn/Winter 2009. With designs heavily based around Fred Perry’s classic thirty leaf laurel logo, amongst other items, Raf Simons presents a reworked version of the iconic polo with a Carl Andre-inspired rusted metal treatment and enlarged embroidery. Raf Simons has also designed a special centenary outfit for Fred Perry, complete with a pair of reimagined brogues, based on a suit that Fred Perry himself wore in 1947. Be in the lookout for this collection to release this coming Autumn.

Fred Perry always manages to bring their classic polo up to date. We have seen fading graphics on lots of sneakers lately and here come now the matching polo shirts. The polos come in black/blue, black/pink and black/grey. They are now available at American Rag & Cie.

Once again Fred Perry has worked with Japanese designer Tomoki Sukezane. This time the designer created a new variation of the classic Fred Perry polo shirt. It features a longer button line and a chest pocket and comes in three colorways. The Fred Perry x Tomoki Sukezane Summer 2009 Polos are now available in stores.

Once again Japanese retailer Beams got together with Fred Perry. They produced four new polo shirts, two coming in a washed out look with tonal logos on the chest and the other two feature a pinstripe. Definitely some nice alternatives to the regular offering of Fred Perry.

Not only did Fred Perry  work with Raf Simons on a dedicated 100th anniversary collection, but they also worked with Vespa on a scooter.

The scooter comes limited to 100 pieces and features classic Fred Perry branding, including the laurel logo and the tipping stripes. The scooter will only be available in the UK, France, US and Japan from August 2009.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Fred Perry, Raf Simons has designed a classic Fred Perry outfit, worn by Fred in 1947. The collaborative collection consists of a black, single-breasted jacket, grey wide leg pleated trousers, slim fit white shirt, laurel print tie, ivory cable knit jumper and a black/white brogue version of the classic table tennis shoe. The collection will be coming to stores in September 2009.

We came across a nicely produced Fred Perry Summer 2009 Collection Lookbook. Once again the UK brand managed to give their classic styles worthy updates. The new colors and materials mixed with the nostalgic photoshoot makes for an interesting look.

Fred Perry has worked with The Specials, one of Britains most influential bands, to product a small collection of items to celebrate their 30th anniversary. They present two polo shirts and a shirt, which can now be pre-ordered from a special order page on the Fred Perry site.

“The shirts have been created around the core theme of ‘black and white unite’ so important to the band and their music. This is reflected in the monochrome palette and the unique twin coloured laurels and chequer detailing.”

Fred Perry has released two new limited edition polo shirts in Japan. The polos feature a digital print madras pattern all-over. They come with white collar and cuffs or black collar and cuffs and are now available at Fred Perry Japan stores.

2009 marks the centenary of the birth of Frederick John Perry and in celebration of Fred’s 100th the brand has developed a collection of classic Fred Perry shirts that feature a unique design detail; an enlarged 16 leaf laurel with the centenary embroidery placed underneath. The palette references classic Fred Perry colorways – white with leaf tipping, black with champagne tipping, 1964 sky with navy tipping and red with white tipping.

The shirt arrives in-store on May 15th and will be available at the Fred Perry Soho store in New York, Neiman Marcus in Dallas, Citizen Clothing in San Francisco and other selected retailers around the country. The shirt will retail for $95.
