In celebration of the Yankees 2009 season and run through the playoffs, Nike Sportswear’s 21 Mercer store has teamed up with FUTURA and the New York Yankees to release a limited edition World Series Hypercool Mock available exclusively at 21 Mercer in New York. The Mock is priced at $114, the number 114 commemorates how many wins it will take for the Bronx Bombers to win the 2009 World Series. Just like the number Manager Joe Girardi wears on his back in commemoration of what the Yankees goal is this year, there will only be 27 units available for purchase, the number of World Series titles the Yankees will have if they can win it all in 2009.

As we’ve seen, NYC graffiti artist Futura has worked on a few Air Force 1s with Nike for Spring 2010. All feature an interesting perforated-gradient, Futura script on the tongue and lace locks, alongside translucent soles. This version is done matte silver with team orange and dark obsidian highlights. Rather than the “Be True” print seen on the outsoles of the other styles, these AF1 Highs feature hits of Futura’s abstract work. Scheduled to arrive at House of Hoops for February 2010.

After showing you a while back the silver version of the sneaker, we can give you a detailed look at the white/orange version of the Nike x Futura Air Force 1. The sneaker comes with leather and perforated leather on the upper, an orange outer sole and will be released at House of Hoops in January 2010.

Last week we brought you an extensive report about the “Odyssey Two” exhibition by Futura in Berlin. Our friends from Stylemag caught up with the artist to talk about the show, his favorite color and about the future. Check it out!

Today the “Odyssey Two” Exhibition by Futura opened in Berlin. The artist himself was in place as well and showcased an impressive set of new works. Large scale paintings were presented along with some nice hand-drawn scatches. It was impressive to see how quickly the works sold out.

The show focuses on the dual themes of memory and the past, and the influence these have on an individual’s imagined world. Futura’s obsessions with space and hyperindustrial landscapes grew from his adolescence: a time when man first landed on the moon, and when the New York skyline soared with a mass of fresh skyscrapers. But the world in his pieces is entirely unique – a place that has developed in his mind over time, where remnants of earlier memories co-exist with imagined, abstract landscapes.Futura’s latest pieces show an artist comfortable in the world he has created, making accomplished works that use monochrome and occasional, frenetic bursts of outline to perfectly convey mood, atmosphere and situation, without the need for graphic symbols.

Odyssey Two is the upcoming exhibition by Futura and it runs throughout Art Forum Berlin and brings together 20 years of the urban art pioneer’s work. Significant new pieces will be on display, alongside key works such as the original iconic Pointman canvas and a collection of early Pointman sketches.

The show focuses on the dual themes of memory and the past, and the influence these have on an individual’s imagined world. Collector’s will be able to buy an accessible selection of key pieces in the creation of Futura’s world: study pieces provide entry level works; there will be a trademark Pointman series and a limited print run. There will also be a small number of recent abstract canvases presented in the environment of their creation. The exhibition is produced in conjunction with Artorial.

From the Nike Air Force 1 Futura Pack comes the AF1 High. The sneaker comes in navy/white/orange and feature the words “Be True” on the outer soles. The tongue features a tag reading “Future” in the iconic Futura font. The sneaker is available in very limited quantities at Osneaker. The pack will only officially release Spring 2010.

We get an early look at an interesting upcoming Nike Air Force 1. It comes with an all silver upper, featuring leather on the front and perforated leather all-over the back, including the heel. “Be Fresh” is written on the tongue and outer sole in the iconic Futura fonts. The laces and the outer sole come in crisp and clean white. You can expect a release beginning of 2010.

TK of Silly Thing has worked on a series of very impressive projects in recent years. We reported about the recent Iron Man figure, The Beatles 1000% Kubricks and many more. Today we get a look at his personal art collection, which is nothing short of impressive. You will find numerous pieces from Kaws and Futura, along with other great contemporary artists. After months of hype, the release date approaches for the Livestrong’s greatest hits version of the Futura Dunk High. Originally released as a Nike SB offering entitled FLOM (For Love or Money) this dollar bill printed shoe was limited to 24 pairs and only available to friends and family of the artist. The 2009 rendition is reworked in Livestrong black and yellow and is has somewhat wider distribution. If you’re a Futura fan, this weekend will be your chance to get your hands on a classic Dunk.
