We present you the Generic Surplus Fall 2009 Footwear. The label coming from the people of Generic Man, has produced solid and well priced footwear since its inception. With the release of their Fall 2009 collection they continue to work with canvas, but also introduce suede into the collection. Furthermore they added a couple of new sneakers and a boot to the collection, making it now an overall round offering in strong colorways. Especially the new Mohawk mid top sneaker looks great.

We’ve recently shown you several previews of Yohji Yamamoto’s diffusion line, Coming Soon. There has been some talk about the similarities between Generic Surplus and Coming Soon’s Spring footwear offerings. Generic Surplus’ Brandon Day clears up any confusion, stating that the shoes are in fact a collaboration between the two labels. Brandon also gives us another peek into the Generic Surplus for Coming Soon Spring 2010 Collection. Expect this collaboration to extends into Fall 2010, with a more in-depth lineup.

The Ace Hotel Palm Springs, Arkitip and Generic Surplus got together to produce a special sneaker and tote bags for the hotel.

“The Ace Hotel Palm Springs Shoe and Tote was designed and developed from the collaborative process between Arkitip, the Ace Hotel and Generic Surplus. In creating a shoe for the Ace Hotel we sought to capture the essence of Palm Springs and the eclectic style of the hotel grounds. We developed a new mesh material that’s breathable for the desert heat, quick drying and non slip for the pool side servers. Considering the Palm Springs environment and the design elements of the hotel, the creation of this new mesh material lends itself perfect to manage water and the desert heat.

The Ace Tote, made out of this same mesh material, was then added as the perfect satchel to carry all the daily essentials from your room to the pool.

The Ace Palm Springs Shoe and Tote is the first in an ongoing collaborative project between Arkitip and Generic Surplus. We aim to to develop objects and products with unique partners from around the world.”
