For this Holiday 2011 season, Generic Surplus has offered up their take on the Duck Boot. These probably are not ideal for inclement weather due to the fact they feature a canvas upper (the grey is actually a canvas/nubuck), but as far as styling goes, these are a good option. Japanese retailer Beauty & Youth gets together with Generic Surplus on two collaborative versions of their low top Borstal sneakers. A warm wool upper and leather heel make the sneaker more appropriate for the colder weather. Hiking boot laces act as nice contrasting accents. Look out for a release of the sneakers soon. For Spring 2012, Generic Surplus teams with L.A.-based artist and designer Steven Harrington on a special edition pair of Desert Boots. For the project, Harrington embellished the ankle collar of the boot with various glyphs that circle around the heel, while the tongue features a large “&” symbol.

The shape and materials are good on these and there’s a poster that goes along with the release too. Agenda sighting.

Generic Surplus gives its Borstal shoe a summer makeover with the use of a mesh fabric upper. The rest of the shoe retains its plimsoll inspired silhouette, with clean lines and minimal branding. Available at Urban Industry.

Capturing the spirit of L.A. summertime, Generic Surplus and OBEY present “Summer at El Matador” to announce their upcoming footwear collaboration. Check out the collaborative sneakers in detail here.

For Spring 2011 Generic Surplus has not only teamed up with Wood Wood and Comme des Garcons SHIRT, but also with Obey on a pair of sneakers. The two brands decided to mesh up two styles from the Generic Surplus collection, creating a mix of a boat shoe and a dock shoe, featuring metal eyelets and work-wear laces. The plimsol sneaker features minimal branding on the tongue and the footbed, resulting in an overall very clean looking sneaker. The Mesh Borstal sneaker comes in three colorways, priced at 65 USD and will release Summer 2011.

The launch of the sneaker will be celebrated with an event on March 25th, at Space 15 Twenty in LA.

Following up on the collaboration between Generic Surplus and Wood Wood on the bike sneaker, we present the video produced for the collaboration, entitled “The Commute”. Enjoy!

Generic Surplus and Danish label Wood Wood have come together to launch a bike shoe for spring.

Combining the spirit of modern day L.A. with chic Scandinavian minimalism, the laid-back, refined designs that characterize the Generic Surplus brand is paired with Wood Wood’s practical sophistication, resulting in a stylish yet functional mid-top shoe that is as ideal for a bike ride through Copenhagen as it is cycling down the Santa Monica Boardwalk.

The sneaker is based on the Generic Surplus Olney, and is upgraded in weather resistant treated canvas with an overlay toe cap, extra seams and a non-skid rubber for better grip.

Generic Surplus presents a batch load of new sneakers for Spring/Summer 2011. The majority of the release is made up of low-top canvas styles, though a healthy sprinkling of mid-top suede styles make an appearance. The low-top suede wingtips are also a welcome addition. All silos feature vulcanized rubber out soles and Discreet Generic Surplus logos at the back. Available now direct from Generic Surplus.

As part of their Spring/Summer 2011 Collection, Comme des Garcons SHIRT worked with Generic Surplus on two canvas sneakers. The mid top is inspired by a boat shoe and comes in a dark navy colorway with gum outer sole. The low top sneaker comes in matching colors, yet also features a dark navy toe cap. Both sneakers are now available from colette.
