Lance Armstrong & Nike Present: Stages Exhibition - A First Look

To heighten global awareness of the cancer burden, Lance has teamed up with Nike to present “STAGES,” an art show that benefits The Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Engaging the creative community in the fight against cancer, “STAGES” exhibits over twenty original works of art in response to the devastating disease with a distinct focus on the subject of survivorship. The show features some of the world’s most accomplished and promising international artists, including Ed Ruscha, Cai-Guo Qiang, Richard Prince, Catherine Opie, KAWS, Eric White, José Parlá, Christopher Wool, Tom Sachs, Dzine, and Rosson Crow.

The show unites the worlds of art, philanthropy and sport in a unique celebration of human potential inspired by Lance and dedicated to the fight against cancer. “It will project hope, strength and commitment to millions and carry the LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Campaign all over the world. I am humbled by the effort and energy given by so many to bring STAGES to life.“ said Lance Armstrong.

The show opens to the public on Friday, July 17th following a preview today for invited guests at the world renowned Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin in Paris. It will also travel to the United States this fall. All work is available for purchase with proceeds directly benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Contributing Artists: Cai Guo-Qiang, Rosson Crow, Jules De Balincourt, Dzine, Shepard Fairey, Andreas Gursky, KAWS, Geoff McFetridge,Yoshitomo Nara, Catherine Opie, José Parlá, Raymond Pettibon, Lari Pittman, Richard Prince, Ed Ruscha, Tom Sachs, Kenny Scharf, Eric White, Christopher Wool, Aaron Young

The exhibition opens in Paris on July 17th and runs until August 8th.

We get a first look at the upcoming team kit of the Mudfooter Cycling Team from Los Angeles. The kit consists of a jersey short- and longsleeve, matching shorts, a t-shirt and also matching socks. All pieces feature artwork by Geoff McFretridge. They will be wearing the kit from October 2009.

Located in LA, and host to Nike Sportswear’s Cinema Tuesday, The Montalban is getting a fresh skin curtesy of local lad Geoff McFetridge. A massive undertaking, the work covers the majority of the buildings facade in signature mural style. Geoff is not entirely alone, Pottok Prints has provided the wallpaper.

Paper Mag is repeating their 24 hours department store that they already did last year in Los Angeles. Once again lots of great brands are on board, including Undefeated, Strangeco, Jeremy Scott, Converse, Opening Ceremony, Fruition and many others. The 24 hours department store is from the 7th of November to the 8th of November.

Last year Undefeated presented a Spalding basketball collaboration. This year they worked with designer/artist Geoff McFetridge, who also designed the U-Man logo for Undefeated. The deck is sold cmplete at the Paper Mag 24hr store this Friday and Saturday.

Geoff Mcfetridge has started his own wallpaper company called Pottok. The wallpaper is hand-printed in California using water-based inks that aren’t treated with any chemical waterproofers, making them as eco-friendly as possible. For the moment there are 8 designs up with almost all of them having multiple colorways.
The new wallpaper brand is being carried by Walnut Wallpaper. On Thursday night they will be celebrating their new LA location as well as the start of Pottok. Via Kitsune Noir.
