We have been fans of the Givenchy backpacks for a while. Last season’s Rottweiler pack was incredible. The new Spring/Summer 2012 Obsidia Backpack is much more subtle, yet great for everyday use, while clearly looking premium. The glossed canvas backpack comes in black and features tonal leather trimmings throughout. Further details include the concealed zip patch pocket and embossed logo detail on the front.

The backpack is now available from Ssense.

Interview Magazine has caught up with ASAP Rocky for its February 2012 issue. The rapper is all over the place right now and keeps on gaining momentum. Just recently we reported about him making the cover of Complex Magazine.

Here we can show you now some images from the Interview Magazine story, featuring the rapper in the latest high fashion has to offer, ranging from Givenchy to Rick Owens and Comme des Garcons. We like the ‘Comme des FuckDown’ cap and beanie from the shoot, which released years ago from SSUR under his The Cut label. We reported about it in 2007 here. Love that!

With the fall 2012 menswear shows having just finished in Europe, it’s not too difficult to round up the most ridiculous looks of the season. We’ve already shown you Thom Browne’s Incredible Hulk madness, but there’s many other equally crazy looks. The “asymmetrical janitor” (by Boris Bidjan Saberi) and “propeller face” (by Walter Van Beirendonck) kits are only the start.

On Friday, Kanye West attended the Givenchy menswear Fall/Winter 2012 show in Paris. Sitting front row with former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld, Mr. West wore a layered sportswear kit, complete with the long tees and leather pants he’s been seen in often as of late. What do you think of this look?

Yesterday Riccardo Tisci showcased his latest Givenchy Collection on the Runway for Fall/Winter 2012. While continuing to work with a lot of black, red is next season’s signature color. Models walked down the runway carrying heavy nose jewelry and wearing mostly the signature skirt/oversized top combination by the designer. We also enjoy the beige and brown tones infused into the collection and the detailed applications on the shirts.

Riccardo Tisci presents his first-ever pre-fall collection ever for Givenchy. Featuring models Simone Nobili and Willy Cartier, the lookbook is set in the city streets. Garments inspired by “sharks, marines and surfers in the night” mix tailoring, sportswear and utilitarian aspects with bold graphics and rich prints.

Accessories such as baseball caps in pony, leather or shearling, shark-tooth key-chains, horn earrings and bags in nappa or in a nappa/felted wool mix or pony sit alongside hi-top trainers, heavy hybrid shoes and pointy derbies. Quite a ways off before any of this releases..

Styled by Robbie Spencer and shot by Ben Toms, Dazed & Confused presents a Spring/Summer 2012 menswear preview in their latest issue, concentrating on the wild patterns that brands from Prada, Givenchy to Balmain are offering this season. An explosion of color in the layered styling is incredible, even though not wearable. Matched with the clothing are the latest footwear styles from adidas by Jeremy Scott and the Nike Lunar running collection.

We have to admit, the high top sneaker game with buckles and detail overload is getting a little tiring. What we find especially amusing is the outrageous design that some high fashion brands put onto their sneakers, practically turning them into walking disco balls. While the buckle game has also been played a little too much already, we do like the clean lines of this new Buckled Leather High Top sneaker from the Givenchy Spring/Summer 2012 Collection.

The light grey premium leather tonal upper and just overall clean lines give the sneaker a nice futuristic look, that we can appreciate. Only releasing in a couple of months, you can already pre-order them here.

Some high fashion brands never make it into a bigger market, sometimes due to appeal other times simply due to price. It is usually a specific product that makes the brand more widely known, in the case of Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, the bold printed graphic t-shirts have been that item. With Rottweiler graphics and other graphic elements, the designer has attracted the masses and brought Givenchy back. At 180 to 300 Euros, the t-shirts are of course very expensive, yet much more affordable than anything else in the Givenchy collection.

Here we take a look what graphics the brand has waiting for you this coming Spring/Summer 2012 season. The main themes seem to be Pin-Up and Paradise Flowers. Especially the oversized tees are interesting and make that classic Givenchy statement. We like some of them, but are not sure they will have the same effect in store as the Rottweiler series from this season. What do you think?
