biggest banksy piece to date - highsnobiety
Artist Banksy created recently his biggest piece to date in central London.
“Banksy pulled off an audacious stunt to produce what is believed to be his biggest work yet in central London.

The secretive graffiti artist managed to erect three storeys of scaffolding behind a security fence despite being watched by a CCTV camera.
Then, during darkness and hidden behind a sheet of polythene, he painted this comment on ‘Big Brother’ society.” Via Daily Mail.

HIXSEPT S/S ‘08 T-Shirt Series

02 April 2008, 19.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

hixsept ss08 collection - highsnobiety
Hixsept was born in 1999, fusing the ideas of two french graffiti writters : Hëx and Hept.

Forerunners of the process consisting of adapting graffiti related items to clothes, they constantly try to mix art, graphic design and clothing. The brand itself always willing to stay on the side. One course of action: create and show. The artistic environment created around Hixsept makes it a brand with attitude, a graphical activist through urban art.
In there most recent collection they created a series of overall 10 t-shirts. They were designed around the idea of bringing a new perspective when it comes to think about the making of a tee-shirt. Hixsept diverts the basic format considering it as one of the essential piece of our wardrobe. Each model is designed and thought through down to its smallest detail, has its own identity, fights for a story and perfectly fits into the global harmony of the series.
They re-interpreted some subversive patterns, paid homage to the alternative movements as well as to 80’s HipHop and the fanzines.  Each model is released in a limited edition of 200 pieces.
One can say a lot about a t-shirt, surprisingly, because many might argue that “it’s only a t-shirt”. In the case of Hixsept one can see that a lot of work went into each piece.
Have a look at the line after the jump and you will see what we are talking about.

Conart Is Back!

RTEmagicC conart 5.jpg Conart Is Back!
It seems to be the year of comebacks. After the recent announcement of the comeback of Alphanumeric, we can now report about the comeback of Conart.
“When CONART entered the marketplace there was no street wear market, no hip-hop stores, no cool-guy blogs. CONART is the originator of the “street wear” movement.  Established in 1989, CONART Clothing Brand has established itself as the first label to use raw designs by the top graffiti artists in the world.  Hip-hop artists such as The Notorious B.I.G., ODB, Method Man, Red Man, The Pharcyde, Gangstarr  and many others have all rocked CONART in movies, videos and advertisements.  CONART has always been considered one of the realest players in the game. True to the art.  The time has come for the originator to show the world that it is still all about the art.”
The line is back and entering premium retailers around the US right now, so keep your eyes open. After the jump we present you their first t-shirt series.

Stussy x Mascot & Mugs

RTEmagicC stussy mm 2.jpg Stussy x Mascot & Mugs
Stussy just released an interesting new series of t-shirts – the Mascots & Mugs series.
“When you think of old school graffiti, you immediately think of New York City and subway cars. The two go hand in hand. While there has been books focusing on subway graffiti, there has never been one focusing on the cartoon characters that adorned those famous trains. Mascots & Mugs: The Characters and Cartoons of Subway Graffiti (Testify Books) is the first book to explore this overlooked art form. Written by Todd James and David Villorente, Mascots & Mugs not only gives a history lesson about one of the most important eras in graffiti, it also provides insight about famed characters drawn by masters such as Stay High 149, Cliff 170 and Mode 2. The authors Todd James and David Villorente answer some questions about working on the book…” Via Stussy.
The t-shirt series carries some of the most famous characters to ever be drawn onto subway cars. They are now available at Stussy Direct.
After the jump the rest of the series.
