Even though many pieces from Japanese brand Phenomenon are a little extreme for our personal taste, we appreciate when they experimental. Usually these are the pieces that you love or hate, but at least they bring a different and new idea to the table, something that does not happen too often these days.

Today we came across their new Free Hat, a snapback version of the iconic Fedora Hat. It comes in grey and in black, both featuring a black satin ribbon. The hats are now available from choiceisyours.

The Ampal Creative presents a behind the scenes look at their “girls that intrigue us” lookbook shoot. “We didn’t want to use models, but instead chose a few of our friends who are also involved in fashion. Mallyce, Michelle and Natalia have all developed their own unique style and also are involved on the ground level of clothes and fashion today. Michelle is the production manager for Pastelle, Ransom, and Diamond Supply Co.’s apparel. Natalia has her own jewelry line, n.om, which is killing it, and Mallyce designs and runs, the high end fashion line LAEKEN.”

For Holiday 2009, Brixton has released a selection of atypically bright colors in some of their most popular styles. The Station snapback comes in royal blue or red/black, while the Heist roll beanie is offered in rust, green and royal. These limited edition drops are now available at Flatspot.

This holiday season, Mishka is offering three New Era silhouettes – two of which were customized exclusively for the brand. The flagship MiG Aviator New Era, inspired by mid century Soviet air-force uniforms, anchors the new holiday hat collection and is available in grey houndstooth and black tweed wool. The second custom silhouette for Mishka by New Era is the Gein Hunter Cap. Constructed out of durable nylon and toasty houndstooth, it is engineered to withstand the winter elements by way of corduroy ear flaps. Rounding out the Mishka holiday hat collection is the Cyrillic 5-Panel New Era. Made out of Melton Wool with a leather adjustable strap, the 5-panel is assembled in a variety of primary hues.

Marc Jacobs continues to work with Still Life NYC, the brand known for their New York handmade hats. For Holiday 2009 the two brands worked on the Langston Fedora and the Lil Dap Fedora. Both hats comes with a small Marc Jacobs button branding and in a series of colorways. They are priced at 235 USD and available in Marc Jacobs stores now.

WTAPS has released some new pieces from their Fall/Winter 2009 Collection. The drop includes the Beetle winter boots, a collaborative hat with Wacko Maria and a new tote bag. All three pieces come in each two colorways and are available now from Cliff Edge.

Two of our favorite pieces from the Unrivaled Fall/Winter 2009 Collection have been released this week – their new take on the classic hat and the Hunter Jacket. The jacket takes its inspiration from several other classics – we see the quilted jacket, the hunter jacket and the varsity jacket in the mix. The outcome is fantastic and possibly one of the highlights of the entire season. The hats look solid as well and come in overall three colorways. Both pieces are now available from Elt.

New product from Neighborhood’s Fall/Winter 2009 Collection will be released this month. The drop includes new denim, another Marmot collaboration down jacket, a solid pea coat, as well as a really nice stadium jacket. Nike Sportswear has released new pieces from their Fall/Winter 2009 Collection, including some real highlights. Next to the Bench Warm Hat, Bench Warm West, bench Warm Training Pants, hoodies and more the V65 Melton Wool Jacket certainly stands out the most and comes in two strong colorways this season.
