Henrik Vibskov Spring/Summer 2012 Collection Presentation

Henrik Vibskov Spring/Summer 2012 Collection Presentation

Henrik Vibskov presented this weekend his new Spring/Summer 2012 Collection in Copenhagen. ‘The Axis of Henrik Vibskov’ was once again an innovative way of showcasing his line.

Henrik Vibskov categorically constitutes the exception. Season after season he imposes not only with his visionary conceptualism, elaborate fabric processings and witful experimentalism, he also keeps surging forward in measures of fashion presentation and conversion.

This years show once more rather had the air of an art or theatre performance than that of a classic runway moment. Set on a public green space between accurately trimmed privet hedges, squired by dim light, spheric sounds and enchanting bird chirrups the spectator got dragged into a postmodern Lewis Carroll momentum.

The ostensible stage, divided into a diagramed 4 room mansion with turquoise doors was equipped with a central axis turned by 4 black-clad cohorts, compelling the models to walk from room to room, open door after door, their black stylized berets and double-framed spectacles indicating a cryptic mission.

A comment on the revolving door of life? The perpetually recurring fashion-cycles? Immanent border violations? Whatever Vibskovs intentions may have been, the deferring circles of his fashion-panoptikum induced a pleasant vertigo on the audience, making them receptive to his rich and wrought material and colour sheme.

Ranging from muted blacks and greys to his character technicolor palette he was systematically playing with dualities (eg. a tie-die suit or obstructive wooden dowels jutting out from prominent shoulders). His trademark knits and hosiery alternated between multicolor melange and graphic Bauhaus, balancing the collection to be modest and salient at the same time.

Henrik Vibskov Type B, C, D Fragrances

Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov has developed a new unisex fragrance series named TYPE. The series consists of three scents that reflect a specific moment in time in three different cities: Berlin, Copenhagen and Damascus.

Playing with the simplicity of the cities’ initial letters, the Eaux de Toilette called TYPE B, TYPE C and TYPE D not only represent three very unique and different fragrances, but above all reflect some of the very characteristics of each of the represented cities.

You can pre-order the three fragrances already from colette.

Selectism checks in on the latest from Henrik Vibskov in Paris. “The collection features the Danish designers usual mix of ready to wear and high-concept looks. Drop trousers, blazers with defined shoulders, and tie-dyed blazers (show above) sit against an array of colors. While the collection may be difficult for some to grasp entirely, those willing to take some risk will find garments uniquely theirs.”

Henrik-Vibskov-'Seat'-Laptop-Sleeve-01

Our favorite blog-friendly item from Henrik Vibskov’s latest collection is this black canvas ‘Seat’ computer bag featuring red and cream beading. When we checked out this case at the shows last Fall, they said “Why not get a massage while you work on your laptop?” Sit on the case for a butt massage. Now in stock at The V Store.

Henrik Vibskov Fall/Winter 2011 Runway Presentation

Henrik Vibskov Fall/Winter 2011 Runway Presentation

When it comes to Copenhagen Fashion Week, the Henrik Vibskov Runway Presentation is one not to miss and a must on the schedule. Last night we attended the presentation of the designer’s Fall/Winter 2011 Collection. As usual it has little to do with  just a few models running down the catwalk, but you attend an entire concept show. Similar to the Thom Browne show in Paris, yet completely different, the designer set up a long dinner table. Models where walking around the table to present the collection, while servants were preparing the dinner setup at the same time. All the way at the end of the show, the models would come with plates and sat down, using hair dryers to unfreeze their frozen food on the plates.

The new collection once again presented a plethora of beautiful knit patterns and pieces. For men the jackets stood out, mixing quilted and polka dot patterns into the garments.

Video: MoMu Presents – Recollection Quartett

14 January 2011, 15.20 | Posted in Art, Fashion | No comments »

For the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, MoMu, the Fashion Museum in Antwerp and Mercedes-Benz, invited Belgian art director Frederik Heyman and 4 fashion designers with exceptional signatures and outspoke styles – Bernhard Willhelm, Peter Pilotto, Henrik Vibskov and Mikio Sakabe – to create 4 installations.

“At the heart of each installation stands a Mercedes Benz Young Classics. From these cars from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, 4 cars were selected that today have an undisputed cult status: W115, S123, R107 and C126. In their designs, we asked the designers to reflect on how the Young Classics can still inspire us today and to interpret the widely varying connotations associated with these cars into a contemporary context.

For each Young Classics, photographer and artist Frederik Heyman created a unique decor and used it only once in a photographic illustration. The design of tableaux and their photographic reproduction are central to Heyman’s oeuvre. Humour and a surrealist visual vocabulary are an intrinsic part of his artistic signature. His decors are built completely by hand, in collaboration with a team of sculptors and artists. In the final results, the handcraft, the construction and consequently also quality craftsmanship are always clearly traceable. Fashion designers Bernhard Willhelm, Peter Pilotto, Henrik Vibskov and Mikio Sakabe have added their own visions to the installations with each 3 new looks.”

Henrik Vibskov Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

Henrik Vibskov showed his new Spring/Summer 2011 Collection as part of Copenhagen Fashionweek, last Friday. The Danish designer did not disappoint and present a nice collection, mixing solid colors, as well as some more crazy combinations and of course his signature knitwear. The presentation was once again beautiful and well executed, featuring wooden installations and floor, which was replicated in the accessories of the collection.
