Selectism/Highsnobiety “Thanks for 2009″ Drink Coasters

28 December 2009, 19.45 | Posted in Accessories | 1 comment »

Letterpress Coasters from Quarter Productions on Vimeo.

Michael Dacey over at Repeat Press inside the Fringe Movement Studio in Somerville, MA worked up these custom two sided coasters for Highsnobiety and Selectism.

The coasters were run off on Michael’s early 1966 Vandercook SP20 Press using coaster stock. Each sheet housed four coasters which were then cut on a vintage Challenge Advance Guillotine Cutter and corners were rounded using a new old stock 60’s Lassco Corner Cutter. The finished coasters were then hand banded and glue to form.   Not surprisingly, we ran out of the inital run but plan on pressing more in the New Year. Many thanks to Michael for an amazing job.

The video above was shot, edited, and produced by Steve Schinnerer/Iloveqp also working out of the Fringe Movement Studio in Somerville, MA. We cannot thank Stebs enough for his time and energy in making this clip for us. (music: The White Stripes – “I Fought Piranhas”)

Maybe we will be giving some away soon. Some behind the scenes images from the production follow here.

Beams x Monocle Watches

Beams x Monocle Watches

The previously announced Beams x Monocle Watches will be coming to stores very soon. Today we give you a detailed look at both colorways, the dial and the packaging. Looking at previous Monocle collaborations on furniture, bikes, books and more, we can only say that we are a little disappointed about this one. Monocle did very well in choosing only the best in their respective fields when collaborating, which this time is clearly not the case. The plastic Submariner inspired watch comes in brown and military green and will be released at Beams stores soon.

More detailed images of the Beams x Monocle Watch follow after the jump.

Highsnobiety x New Era Empire Fitted Cap

Highsnobiety x New Era Umpire Fitted Cap

Today we show you a little project that we worked on in the last couple of month – the Highsnobiety x New Era Empire Fitted Cap. In time for Bread & Butter Berlin we wanted to make a little give-away for friends & family and thus started talks with New Era. We wanted to do something different, as we are all aware that the regular 59fifty from New Era comes out weekly in so many new colorways and materials, it has gotten pretty hard to do something special. New Era was nice enough to let us work with the Empire Cap, a short brim cycling inspired cap, which to date is still exclusive to the Japanese market. We took the picnic theme and gave the entire cap a blue/white checker upper with other details kept tonal. There is only a small logo embroidery on the back, along with “THF BBB 2009″. THF is the airport code for Tempelhof, the location of this year’s Bread & Butter (BBB) tradeshow.

Don’t be surprised to see quite some people running around with the cap. During BBB we gave it out to friends that passed by our booth. A small assortment of caps is also available at the New Era flagship store in Berlin. Overall we made 144 caps. Next week we will be giving away a couple of caps over the site, so stay tuned for that. By the way, the New Era Empire Cap makes its official debut outside of Japan in a couple of months as well and we are sure it will become a popular style. Thanks again to New Era for working with us on this project!

More detailed images of the Highsnobiety x New Era Empire Cap follow after the jump.
