Today we present the first commercial for the upcoming Marni for H&M Collection for Spring/Summer 2012. The commercial was directed by Sofia Coppola. Enjoy!

The David Beckham Bodywear Collection for H&M will release at H&M stores around the globe on February 2nd, 2012. Today they launched the above commercial for the release of the collaboration collection.

Earlier today we presented the full lookbook of the Versace for H&M Cruise Collection Spring 2012. For the release, which will take place on January 19th, 2012, globally, H&M has also produced a series of videos.

After the initial announcement, we can present today the first David Beckham Bodywear Collection by H&M. Underwear is never easy to shop, at least in our opinion. Most of the time we end up buying it from Uniqlo and other fast fashion retailers. As cheesy as this Beckham collaboration might come across at first, we have to admit that the outcoming collection looks very solid. T-shirts, longsleeves, boxers, broefs and more are featured in the overall 9 piece debut collection. Everything is kept in white, black and grey, with only the collection’s logo tag distracting from the otherwise very clean design. The line is much more premium than what you would usually find in the H&M underwear/bodywear department and thus actually makes it a pretty good first attempt for us. Similar to his on-going collaboration with James Bond and adidas, Beckham offers up a premium, timeless collection, that we cannot hate on.

Last month we gave a first look at the products coming from the next Versace for H&M Cruise Collection for Spring 2012. Today we can present the lookbook images.

A little more toned down compared to the initial Holiday 2011 Collection, trademark Versace graphics are still featured on most pieces of the line. Denim, shirts, t-shirts, some jackets and accessories will be released on January 19th, 2012, at select H&M stores around the globe.

The collaboration between Versace and H&M continues into the new year. We already presented the current Holiday 2011 Collection, and now take a look at the upcoming men’s Cruise Spring 2012 Collection.

For Spring 2012 the two present a more toned down collection for men, including shirts, t-shirts, pants, denim, blazers, as well as a couple of accessories, such as bags and jewelry. The classic Versace maize design appears on several of the pieces, but the overly colorful design that we have seen in the current first release, does not re-appear in the new collection.

Shortly after having released their Versace for H&M Collection, the Swedish fast fashion retailer H&M announces a new collaboration for Spring 2012 with Italian brand Marni.

“Marni’s collection for H&M has all the freedom and experimentation for which the label is renowned, with all-over prints in strong colours all intended to be worn together in layers that both match and clash. For women, the colours are vivid and the prints are bold, be they African inspired or simpler colour blocks. The silhouettes are all Marni staples, with full pleated skirts, dresses, cropped trousers and jacquard knit, and fabrics range from silk to crisp cotton poplin. To finish the complete look the collection also includes jewellery, shoes, bags and scarves.

For men, the colours and fabrics are softened for a relaxed take on menswear staples that is truly Marni. The use of print is subtle, often as a lining or as a contrast detail for shirts, the silhouette a modern and relaxed take on masculine classics. The Marni collection is the latest designer collaboration for H&M, which has previously collaborated with brands such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garçons, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, and most recently Versace.”

Now that the first Versace for H&M Collection is out the door, one can take a more distanced look at how this all went down. It is definitely interesting to watch these things unfold. The Versace line is one out of many H&M collaborations over the last years and it is an interesting one. H&M gets to associate itself with high fashion and the high fashion brand gets a quick mass market introduction for a short period of time, thus resulting in a massive PR effect for them.

Personally we were very excited about the Lanvin collaboration and about the Comme des Garcons collaboration. While Lanvin certainly had some solid pieces for men, that were both interesting and wearable, the CdG line was for us a disappointment. We can also not imagine that it performed very well outside of Japan (an assumption). Viktor & Rolf was not too bad either, but maybe they were still too small in the high fashion market to even matter in the mass market. The line was not bad though. Now Versace certainly needed a big PR push, as the brand has been a little forgotten since its high times in the 80s and early 90s.  Sometimes one had the feeling they were coming back, but they never quite made it.

The Versace for H&M Collection is surprisingly good. As usual it is stronger for women, but even for men there are some very good pieces. Even though we like in general a more subtle look, we can appreciate the most the loud pieces of the collaborative collection, because who needs Versace for H&M for a simple black sweater. The biker jacket and especially the bomber jacket are the hits of the mens line. Now you just have to be able to actually wear these pieces.

Earlier today we presented a recap of the Versace for H&M Runway Show that took place in New York City last night. Here is now a nice commercial that was produced by the two brands for the November 17th launch of their cooperation. Donatella Versace appears towards the end of the clip.

To celebrate their soon to release collaborative collection, Versace and H&M hosted a runway show in New York City last night.

Outfits showcased on the catwalk were of course from the Versace for H&M collection, which brings together different styles from the Versace archive. The long-awaited collection for H&M features such iconic pieces for women as draped metal mesh dresses, silk-crêpe dresses with gold buttons, multi-coloured panel print dresses and the classic Versace studded leather jacket, while for men there are sharp suits, printed sweaters and print shirts, and studded leather jackets and trousers. For women the collection is certainly more interesting, because we do not see a lot of men being able to wear the colorful all over print styles.

Obviously the event was packed with celebrities and Prince actually performed. The collection will go on sale on November 17th, 2011, at about 300 H&M stores. More images from the runway show follow after the jump.
