Huf presents its new Holiday 2011 Collection Lookbook. Rather than giving a close look at the garments of the new collection, Huf sets the tone and mood of the collection in this shoot by photographer Brian Kelley in Cappadocia, Turkey. Shirts, hoodies, some outerwear and some accessories are being shown in the spread. The new Huf Holiday 2011 Collection is now available in their online store.

This week The Guardian published an interesting article on the rise of skateboard brands and clothing to a multimillion dollar business – The Fall and Rise of Skate Chic. They talk about Supreme’s London store opening, Ed Banger Records and Busy P, Jason Dill, Odd Future’s Tyler The Creator and many other topics that we often speak about here. Furthermore they also speak about the sale of Volcom to PPR, the parent company of Gucci and YSL.

In the article they interview Keith Hufnagel of Huf and other tastemakers, designers from the industry. Certainly an interesting read and mainstream take on the trends in our market.

“When Supreme opened its London store this September, the young and well-heeled spilled on to the streets of Soho from a launch party many had queued for hours to get into. Inside, Ed Banger Records label owner and Parisian DJ Busy P rubbed shoulders with legendary skaters such as Jason Dill. This was more than good PR for the New York-based skater brand, recently worn in prolificacy by Odd Future’s Tyler the Creator. This was an event that marked a remarkable change in fortunes for a fashion once largely dismissed as the style concerns of waster teenagers.

Supreme started life in the mid-90s, when New York skating was at an all-time low. Companies were going out of business, skaters couldn’t afford to live off their sponsorship and the sport had developed a reputation for being popular among a nuisance generation of slacker kids. The idea that, a decade down the line, skater fashion would not only occupy a burgeoning corner of the market but also infiltrate high fashion must have seemed absurd. But that is what’s happened.

This spring PPR, the parent company of Gucci and Alexander McQueen, bought the Californian skate company Volcom in a deal worth $607m. The leap in Volcom’s stock to $24.39 from $19.73 when the deal was announced in May even prompted some law firms to take a closer look at it because they claimed shareholders weren’t getting a fair price.”

HUF partners up with Tokyo-based artist Haroshi and Bay Area skateboard distributor DLX on a limited edition collaboration. It looks like they will be presenting a Krooked skateboard. A release is scheduled for January 2012.

Huf gets together with New York artist Haze on a capsule collection as part of their Holiday 2011 line. The collection includes t-shirts, pocket t-shirts, snapback caps, and a skate deck. All pieces of the collection perfectly mix Haze’s very distinguishable graffiti lettering style with the clean aesthetic and design of Huf.

JanSport team up with Huf again, this time to rework a classic 1970s JanSport roll-top backpack. This limited edition backpack’s constructed from a navy waxed cotton twill fabric and boasts many features, including a dual access main compartment with roll-top and front zipper entry, two vertical stash sleeves, a 15” padded laptop sleeve/magazine stash pocket, accessory pocket and matching accessory pouch. Fresh detailing completes the bag with leather zipper pulls and a dual brand label, resulting in a timeless collectible, yet functional and wearable piece. Huf has released the online exclusive 10K Pack this week. The pack consists of 10K Pocket Tee, available in three heather colorways, and the 10K Snapback Cap, featuring a raw-edged vintage twill applique with embroidered logo. The caps and t-shirts are now available exclusively in the Huf online store.

Huf and French skateboard company Cliché team up for the second time and present for Fall 2011 a new capsule collection. The line-up includes t-shirts, a 5-panel cap, a skate deck and the Hufnagel Pro low top sneaker. For the collaboration the two brands did not only create a double logo graphic, but a nice mash-up of the Eiffel tower and the Golden Gate bridge, each representing the home towns of the two brands.

Shot in New York City by photographer Brian Kelley the HUF Fall 2011 Collection Delivery Two Lookbook features Luke Clerkin, Caleb Weiss, Emilio Cuilan, Joey Pepper, Thane Wright as they sit with a caricature artist. Interesting take on the lookbook. We’re not convinced this was the best route, but will give an “A” for effort. The garments look clean and classic as always. All items now available through HUF online.

HUF has teamed up with Tokyo-based Challenger in a collaboration series of tees, caps and skateboards that encapsulate both Japanese street-wear fashion and the American garage influence that inspires much of modern day street culture. “This collection pays homage, through the anagram “CUF,” to the inspirational artists who ‘came up first’ out of the American garage scene in order to inspire the street-cultures we value today.” The entire collection is now available for purchase through HUF.
