The latest limited edition Creme de Corps release from Kiehls sees them working with with artist Jeff Koons. “Jeff Koons enters the picture with his familiar Balloon Flower (Yello) from his Celebration series. Three sizes of Keihls Creme de Corps bottles are available with profits head to The Koons Family Institute on International Law and Policy, an initiative of the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC).”

We  have reported several times about the Takashi Murakami organized charity auction “New Day: Artists for Japan”, in association with Christie’s. The event finally took place Wednesday morning in New York City and was jam packed with both collectors and fans of the Japanese artist. Participating artists included Zeng Fanzhi, Mark Grotjahn, Damien Hirst, Thomas Houseago, KAWS, Jeff Koons, Friedrich Kunath, Mr., Yoshimoto Nara, Gabriel Orozco, Anselm Reyle, Cindy Sherman, Aya Takano and Luc Tuymans.

Our favorite, Kaws, got a record high for his “Kawsbob Enters the Strange Forest” (2011) painting, at a whooping 155′000 USD. Having followed him now for such a long time, it is great seeing him come this far. A price war between the Paris dealer of the artist, Emmanuel Perrotin, and one of his clients, forced the price up to 155′000 USD.

The highest piece of work sold during the auction, was the Jeff Koons “Balloon Monkey Wall Relief” for exactly 1′000′000 USD. All in all the auction raised almost 9 Million USD for the Japanese earthquake victims, which is simply incredible. (Via AI)

Auction house Christie’s will be teaming up with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and his company Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd. to support the victims of the March 11, 2011 Tohoku-Pacific earthquake in Japan. For the occasion a dedicated section of their November 9th, 2011, auction in New York was given to Murakami. Murakami contributed works himself to be auction off and chose other works from some of contemporary art’s biggest names to support the event. Works by Zeng Fanzhi, Mark Grotjahn, Damien Hirst, Thomas Houseago, KAWS, Jeff Koons, Friedrich Kunath, Mr., Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Gabriel Orozco, Anselm Reyle, Cindy Sherman, Aya Takano, and Luc Tuymans will be part of the sale.

Gagosian Gallery will be holding a preview of the works from the auction, from Wednesday, October 26th to Friday, October 28th at their Madison Avenue Gallery in New York.

“Jeff Koons Must Die!!!” is an 80’s style stand-up arcade cabinet loaded with a first-person shooter, by Hunter Jonakin, in which players can virtually destroy the work of artist Jeff Koons.

The game is set in a large museum during a Jeff Koons retrospective. The viewer is given a rocket launcher and the choice to destroy any of the work displayed in the gallery. If nothing is destroyed the player is allowed to look around for a couple of minutes and then the game ends. However, if one or more pieces are destroyed, an animated model of Jeff Koons walks out and chastises the viewer for annihilating his art. He then sends guards to kill the player. If the player survives this round then he or she is afforded the ability to enter a room where waves of curators, lawyers, assistants, and guards spawn until the player is dead. In the end, the game is unwinnable, and acts as a comment on the fine art studio system, museum culture, art and commerce, hierarchical power structures, and the destructive tendencies of gallery goers, to name a few.

Last night the new collaboration between Kiehl’s and Jeff Koons was launched at the brand’s New York flagship store.

“Last night, Jeff Koons “A Wonderland of Merry”collection launched officially at Kiehl’s New York Flagship. Since we’re not immune to the lure of art star paparazzi photography – here’s one, just one, of Mr. Koons and Kaws.

The highlight of the event is the window display, and of course Koons’ packaging design. Koons brings a fresh look to the world famous apothecary company (founded in 1851), the bold candy color hearts and flowers fitting the Kiehl’s bill nicely.

Most importantly: 100% of Kiehl’s net profits from the sale of each product will benefit The Koons Family Institute, an initiative of the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC).”

Kiehl’s has tapped art icon Jeff Koons once again to design a limited edition label for their Creme de Corps holiday collection. The 16.9 once bottle of moisturizer features an image of Koons’ installation “Large Vase of Flowers.” Allegedly this will be available for one days only, on December 4, 2010, at the NY flagship store in Union Square or at the Lincoln Center. Kiehl’s also gives 100% of the profit to the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. Respect. (Refinery)

Once again Kiehl’s has teamed up with art superstar Jeff Koons to offer some limited edition product for the holiday season, all featuring the artist’s Tulips work.

We take a look at the works on display at the Jeff Koons “Popeye Sculpture” exhibition in Paris, at the Galerie Jerome de Noirmont.

“Filling the Paris space with some of his signature “balloon” sculptures perched precariously in various formations, Koons brings new life to the works while adding some new twists like an appearance by Olive Oyl.”

Next to the Murakami exhibition at Versailles, Paris seems to the place to be at the moment for contemporary art.

Famed artist Jeff Koons adapted his BMW art car design to an Aston Martin Carbon Black DBS, as spotted in the Netherlands. Luxist weighs in. “Based on the top-of-the-line GT that serves as James Bond’s ride of choice, the Carbon Black edition features a unique black paint process designed to deflect the light at different angles, plus lightweight carbon-Kevlar seats upholstered in black leather with silver stitching, piano black trim, special wheels and more. We’re not sure why Koons’ design would be applied over the special black finish, but there you have it.”

RxArt, the non profit organization, known for transforming frightening medical environments into works of art to improve the healing process, has once again gotten together with Jeff Koons. This time the artist received a cart blanche at the Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital.

“RxArt, the non-profit organization that curates contemporary art installations in hospital settings, and Kiehl’s Since 1851, the venerable New York-based purveyor of fine quality skin and hair care, have partnered to bring the artwork of Jeff Koons to Chicago’s Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital.

Kiehl’s is proud to underwrite the fabrication and installation of works by world-renowned pop artist Jeff Koons on a Philips CT Scanner and throughout the scanner room at Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital for RxArt. As a result of this project, Koons’ iconic characters will find a permanent home in the hospital’s radiology department, to soothe and cheer young patients, and brighten the typically sterile and potentially scary testing environment.

To create the installation, the Philips CT Scanner was painted, and decals featuring Koons’ Monkeys were applied to the machine. His iconic Balloon Dog, Hanging Heart, and Donkey imagery were also installed to brighten the room as wallscapes. Koons generously took no artist fee for his participation in this project.”

After a first initial teaser a while back we can give you a full look at the BMW Art Car by Jeff Koons today. The collaboration marks the 17th car in the BMW Art Car series.

“At the premiere of the 17th BMW Art Car Jeff Koons unveiled and signed his car in front of 300 international VIP guests on June 1 in the Centre Pompidou, one of the world’s most prestigious cultural institutions for modern and contemporary art. It is the same place where Roy Lichtenstein back in 1977 first presented and signed his Art Car.

In the spirit of Calder, Stella, Lichtenstein, Warhol, BMW announced this year that the 17th Art Car created by Jeff Koons will race where the first rolling pieces of art by legendary artists raced – at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France on June 12-13, 2010. Koons’ canvas is a BMW M3 GT2, which was homologated to compete at this year’s running of the world’s most famous endurance race.

On June 2, between 11 am to 9 pm, the public will have the chance to see the Art Car free of charge in the Forum of the Centre Pompidou. At 5.30 pm Jeff Koons will participate in a book signing at the official book store of the museum before he will talk about his work in conversation with Alain Seban, President of the Centre Pompidou, at 6 pm at the Forum of the museum.”

Today Louis Vuitton will be opening its new Maison London, a store concept which was previously reserved to its home town Paris. The massive store cost over 30 Million Pounds and is nothing short of impressive. You can of course expect an incredible selection of LV products in the new store. For us most impressive is the amount of original art that you will be able to witness at the new maison. The new store showcases art by Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, Michael Landy and others. Depending on the artist, you will find paintings, sculptures and installations on showcase.

Next in line to participate in the BMW Art Car series is none other than celebrated New York artist Jeff Koons, marking the 17th time that the German car maker has invited an artist to design a car. Yesterday the artist presented at a press conference the design of the BMW M3 GT2, that will take part at the famous Le Mans race later this year.

“In the spirit of Calder, Stella, Lichtenstein, Warhol, and Holzer, BMW announced today that the 17th Art Car created by Jeff Koons will race where the first rolling pieces of art by legendary artists raced – at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, June 12-13, 2010. Koons’ canvas is a BMW M3 GT2, which was homologated to compete at this year’s running of the world’s most famous endurance race.

In another nod to tradition, Koons will present the world premiere and sign his car at Paris’ Centre Pompidou on June 1, 2010, just as Roy Lichtenstein did in 1977.

Adding to the occasion, Koons released for the first time his preliminary design concept for the car today at a press conference in New York City. As part of his creative process, the artist collected images of race cars and graphics, vibrant colors and speed. He layered them into a digital collage depicting his sources of inspiration. The resulting graphic conceived by Koons – evocative of power, motion and light and rendered in the artist’s signature saturated hues on a black ground set against the car’s silver interior – will impart a dynamic appearance to the race car even when it’s standing still.”

The car will be presented at Centre Pompidou in Paris on June 1st.

After having worked with Kaws previously, Kiehl’s has worked for Earth Day 2010 with Jeff Koons, Pharrell Williams, Julianne Moore and surfer Malia Jones as part of their “Friends of Kiehl’s” initiative on the Acai Damage-Protecting Mist in the form of collectors bottles, for which they each contributed the bottle label design. “Friends of Kiehl’s” strives to double their donation from 200 and would like to donate 200′000 USD of the proceeds of the sales to the Rainforest Alliance.

To support the initiative, celebrity photographer David LaChapelle will capture each personality in his unique style. Hopefully we can soon show you images of that as well.

Nowness brings us an exclusive video of the “Skin Fruit” exhibition at The New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. Curated by artist Jeff Koons, showcased are pieces selected from the collection of Greek businessman-philanthropist Dakis Joannou.

“Scoring some rare face time with the pop guru, filmmaker Alison Chernick followed Koons around the museum during the installation. Strolling up to sculptures by Charles Ray, Terence Koh and Liza Lou, Koons elucidates his selections—as well as his philosophies about capital-A art—in his trademark captivating educational lull.”

Most of you should know by know about the Pop Life exhibition going on at the Tate Modern. Pop Life features modern artists that understand the relationship between art and commerce and more importantly, make active use of it during their career. Participating artists include Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami and more.

As part of the exhibition the Tate Modern has also launched the Pop Life store, offering product from all of these artists. The store also has an online home, so should you not make it out there, you can also shop the collection here.
