Converse continues their long-term partnership with designer John Varvatos. For Spring 2012 we present the latest footwear line-up including the Chuck Taylor All Star, Pro Leather, Star Player and Sprint Grip. As usual the sneakers come with premium leather and canvas, all featuring a nice used effect that adds to the signature Varvatos look.

From the Converse by John Varvatos Fall 2011 Collection we have already presented the All Star Double Zip. Here is now a look at the updated JV Pro Leather. The sneaker comes in high top and low top versions, featuring vintage and used leather uppers.

“The JV Pro Leather shoe is offered in worn vintage-inspired colorways for the fall. Heavily burnished wax and oiled suede creates definitive weathered looks, where no two shoes are the same. From the Converse by John Varvatos Fall/Winter 2010 Collection we present the Snakeskin Pack. The pack consists of several Chuck Taylor styles in low, featuring different color snakskin uppers.

“The crazy lace eyelet CT Multi Eye Ox, laceless CT Vintage Slip and more conventional CT Spec Ox have been reworked with some really nice looking snakeskin that has been mildly distressed.”

The sneakers are now available from Limited EDT in Singapor.

As part of their on-going collaboration, Converse and John Varvatos present a nice new silhouette – the CVO Wingtip Slip. The low top sneaker comes without laces and has a slightly more pointy toe box than your usual Converse sneaker. The sneaker comes in two canvas/suede versions and is now available here. This metallic silver Chuck Taylor is part of the Converse by John Varvatos Spring 2009 collection. It almost looks like a metal mold actually. Converse and partner John Varvatos today announced the launch of a new series of “Get Chucked” advertising, focusing on the fall 2008 Converse by John Varvatos fashion line-up and the company’s premium men’s and women’s apparel and footwear collections . The campaign takes its cues from the wild side of late night dining and was inspired by and shot at the recently closed Manhattan eatery and nightlife legend, Florent. The multimedia creative features British modeling sensation, Daisy Lowe.

Acclaimed photographer Ryan McGinley shot the Converse by John Varvatos line for the second consecutive season. McGinley partnered with Yard, the creative agency behind the campaign, as well as Converse and John Varvatos to portray the collection’s carefree and playful sensibility.  Captured in the late-night escapades of models Daisy Lowe and Liam Wade (Select Model Management), the creative celebrates the essence of the “Get Chucked” attitude with the comradery and antics that take place in the wee hours of the morning in late night diners across the world. The campaign was shot at Florent in the final weeks before the iconic Manhattan diner closed its doors after 23 years.  Florent was one of the first restaurants to move into the then delinquent and desolate meatpacking district of the 80s. As the home base of artists and fashionistas, it was chosen as the ideal venue to host the tongue-and-cheek series depicting anything goes late night dining moments.

This season also marks the introduction of a 60 second short film, shot by McGinley, to amp up the “Get Chucked” brand experience.  The provocative film, also shot on location at Florent, showcases playful havoc and barely startled diners in a story revolving around an underwear-clad diner (sporting only a Converse by John Varvatos tie, shirt and the just launched Chuck Taylor® All Star® Bosey Boot), who has late night ideas of his own. Designer Varvatos makes a special cameo appearance in the film.  The piece is set to the music of The Virgins.

The print campaign will appear beginning in August in international and national publications including Dazed and Confused, Details, Elle, Fantastic Man, Flaunt, GQ, Interview, New York Times, Out, The Daily, V, V Man, Vogue and Wonderland and beginning in September on digital sites including Men.Style.com, Refinery29 and Style.com.  Out of home advertising includes wallscapes/bulletins, bus shelters and newsstand placements, guerilla projections, upscale bar digital HD screens and mirror clings and projection media in metro Los Angeles and New York locations.

With their on-going collaboration with designer John Varvatos, Converse has entered a new market that they did not serve before – the high fashion market. Premium materials and just an overall different approach made the collection in the past very interesting. Over time the market has shifted to a more subtle style and with that the John Varvatos For Converse collection was of course right on point.
We have not come across the clothing of the collection very often and can thus not say much about that, even though it does look nice on images.

New pieces out of the Converse x John Varvatos Spring 2008 collection have been released at Kicks/Hi.
They got in two Chuck Taylor Hi’s, one dipped in white paint and the other coming with metal studs, both featuring leather laces. Also they released a Jack Purcell Vintage in a nice summer colorway with a striped upper design.

Here you see the latest release out of the on going collaboration between Converse and designer John Varvatos. The Chuck Taylor Hi comes with an all black canvas upper, used coloring on the white outer sole, leather laces and black metal application along the laces and on the heel.
