K1X DCAC by Patrick Mohr Mk2 Sneakers-01
In 2010, fashion designer Patrick Mohr reinterpreted the K1X DCAC sneaker. The shoe debuted during Berlin Fashion Week in January 2010, where it was featured in Mohr’s runway show.

Six months later (July 2010), a second edition was introduced during the summer edition of Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Featured in three new colorways (sand, white and red), the sneaker boasts high-end nubuck leather mixed with calf leather and is embellished with various triangular cutouts. Two part of the shoe can double as accessories: the wooden triangle can be worn as a pendant, while the leather strap can be fixed to the ankle or lower leg – or worn on the wrist.

The global release of the K1X DCAC MK2 by Patrick Mohr will take place on September 8, 2011 at Wood Wood Berlin feat. special guests DJ Hell (on the decks) and Patrick Mohr (on the dance floor). Limited to 80 units per color way.

K1X Sierra Leone DCAC Pack

31 March 2011, 15.54 | Posted in Sneakers | 2 comments »

K1X Sierra Leone DCAC Pack

The most anticipated pack to come from the limited edition K1Xclusive Spring 2011 range is the Sierra Leone DCAC Pack, dropping early next week.

As part of this project K1X will be placing 22 colorways of the sneaker, each coming limited to only 15 pairs, at some of the best retailers around the globe. Each boutique will get its very own colorway, available nowhere else. It arose within the framework of the Folorunsho Design Project, which remixes original African materials and techniques with western design. From the proceeds of each of these 330 unique sneakers, $25 will be transfered directly to the Sierra di Lion Sharity Trust Fund, which supports the local youngsters, that actually design and manufacture many of the folorunsho pieces.

The pack is topped off with 22 different New Era 59/50 caps, made of the same Ankara fabrics, so that the caps will match the selected DCAC SL shoes exactly. A tad of pop on the underbrim of these K1X New Era fitted caps adds a distinct Sierra Leone flavor to an otherwise all black lid.

The K1X Sierra Leone DCAC Pack will see an official release on April 4th, including colette Paris, Limiteditions Barcelona, Sneakersnstuff Stockholm, Pool Munich, Overkill Berlin, Black Rainbow Paris and many others.

Head on after the jump to check out the sneakers and caps in detail, as well as the accompanying video of the project.

K1Xclusive Decade Pack Spring 2011

12 March 2011, 11.00 | Posted in Sneakers | 3 comments »

K1X Decade Pack Sneakers Spring 2011
K1X’s new boutique line, K1Xclusive, presents their inaugural footwear offering for Spring 2011.

The Decade Pack is the basketball brand’s homage to thirty years of basketball footwear design. The Pack consists of three lifestyle silhouettes, each one representing one decade: 80s, 90s and Y2G. Inspired by thirty years of basketball shoe making, each decade (a.k.a. shoe) is characterized by key characteristics in design as well as in production. The Decade Pack is a tribute to simplicity. A strong visual statement, all three shoes are reduced to the max: one layer of leather only, no linings or other add ons. Each model is available in two colors and materials, consisting of extra thick 2-tone nubuck leather or premium full-grain leather. The shoes‘ key feature is the lack of inner lining, which gives it a raw inner body and makes the shoe especially light. As on all K1Xclusive products, branding is kept subtle – in this case the iconic tag logo is lazered on the shoe’s tongue and heel.

The Decade Pack Pack drops April 4th 2011 at selected retailers.

“LeDünk Pack” by K1X

26 February 2011, 11.59 | Posted in Fashion | 5 comments »

"LeDünk Pack" by K1X

Basketball brand K1X has worked on some brow raising projects lately. The 4-E basketball design project (feat. Marok, Frank151/Stay High 149, Bill McMullen & Mode2), the footwear design co-op with german fashion designer Patrick Mohr, or the cinematic tribute to NYC basketball featuring Pete Rock and Red Cafe for example.

Kicking off the K1Xclusive Spring 2011 line is an apparel pack called „Le Dünk“, which proclaims dunking as a form of art. This virgin K1Xclusive line consists of one crewneck, five tees and two caps, and was created in honor of the most memorable slam dunks in basketball history. The small prints on the back of the crewnecks and t-shirts tie back to the specific date the dunk was performed.

All K1Xclusive products feature understated logo branding. The “Le Dünk” Pack will drop February 28th at selected retailers like Colette (Paris), Bottega Back Door (Bologna), Pool (Munich), Overkill (Berlin), FourTwoFour on Fairfax (L.A.) and on KICKZ.COM.

Take a further look at the pack after the jump.

Red Cafe & Pete Rock “The Heart & Sould of New York City” a K1X Film by Kevin Couliau

01 May 2010, 16.30 | Posted in Other | 1 comment »

Red Cafe – Heart and Soul of New York City by K1X from K1X on Vimeo.

K1X has worked with Kevin Couliau to produce an outstanding basketball documentary, dedicated to the new city of New York.

“The idea for a visual love letter to NY basketball was born when Red Cafe’s unreleased track “Heart & Soul” established itself as an instant office-favorite at K1X headquarters in Munich (Germany) last spring. Niels Jager (K1X Go-To Guy): “The tune was on replay 24/7. And one day it hit us: let’s build a statue for NYC streetball!” Red Cafe’s ode to the city that never sleeps is a Pete Rock production that boasts all the makings of a hip hop classic. K1X, who has been active in the outfitting of several high profile NYC streetball tournaments for several years, was all the more surprised to find out that this beast of a tune was not yet a prime focus of Red Cafe’s record label. Shake Down quickly agreed to let K1X shoot a poetic clip for the song, whose lyrics are a glowing personification of K1X’s appreciation for street basketball: The Heart & Soul of New York City.

French streetball documentarist Kevin Couliau (Asphalt Chronicles), who spent the summer of 2009 in the five boroughs hunting down supreme blacktop action, was a natural choice to capture the raw essence of NYC and its rich streetball culture. As was the Canon 5D Mark II as Couliau’s weapon of choice. Art director / director / producer Thibaut de Longeville (director of the acclaimed “Just For Kicks” sneaker culture documentary) and motion graphic designer Vincent Dumond of 360 Creative in Paris added their visual expertise to the project and took care of elegant motion graphics and bona fide post production.

The clip features action from K1X affiliated tournaments in Harlem (”Together We Chill” and “Kingdome Classic”) and the Lower East Side (”Lower Manhattan Classic”) as well as a variety of other city courts and an impressive array of cameos by iconic players, opinion leading heads and a bunch of regular dudes. Bobbito Garcia, who got an early preview of the clip last winter had this to say: “It’s so beautiful, man. It’s snowing tonight but it made me look forward to the coming summer months again.”"

Enjoy!
