In the latest installment of his 1-2-1 series Jeff Staple sits down with founder and CEO of Karmaloop.com, Greg Selkoe. They talk about the beginnings of Karmaloop and how far they have come, as well as their future plans.

Karmaloop has always attracted as much hate as admiration. Controversy about its business, its founder and of course the impressive size it has reached over the years result in much talk and also much hate. It is funny from our perspective, because we feel like we grew along with Karmaloop over the years. We remember the times when the 10 Deep’s and Crooks & Castle’s of this world would not sell to Karmaloop because they were not ‘cool’ enough as a retailer. As you can imagine, those times have changed – economic crisis, lots of ‘cool’ retailers closing and a massive streetwear retailer that can actually sell numbers, made it hard to say no to. Karmaloop was one of the very first advertisers of this site and actually made it possibly for me in the early days to spend more time on Highsnobiety.com and less time on doing other jobs to pay rent. That I can simply not hate on.

Supra reveals some more detailed flicks of the Karmaloop Skytops we showed you the other day. A super bright yellow version of the popular hi-top sneaker. Holy Bananas! The release includes a matching t-shirt (sold seperately) featuring a winged version of the shoe printed on a black body. Both the sneakers and shirt are now available at the Karmaloop store in Boston – that is, of course, if they haven’t sold out already. Folks outside of Boston can get them today on Karmaloop.com.

Supra and Karmaloop got together to collaborate on the “Holy Bananas” Skytop. As you can imagine the sneaker comes in bright yellow with leather and patent leather on the upper. The sneaker will be released at a special release event on September 4th at Karmaloop Boston.

Reebok set up a special RBK Custom website for three select boutiques. Karmaloop was one of the choice boutiques designed two new Ventilators, each respectively dubbed the Purple Heart and Blue Blood.  The two tone kicks feature an upper suede, rubber sole, and two pairs of laces – one tonal and one contrasting to match the sole. The back heel features the Karmaloop Insignia in muted tonal embroidery. They are limited to 60 pairs each and are available now exclusively at Karmaloop.com.

The Lakers got their shine last week with the announcement of the Crooks and Castles limited tees. And now, its time for the NBA Finals opponents the Boston Celtics to get a turn.
