After the Joe Kaws Snoopy toy and the Halloween t-shirts, Peanuts teams up once again with artist Kaws and his brand Original Fake. Perfect as a Christmas gift, the two present the ‘Joe Kaws’ Mug. The mug features the same graphic as the t-shirt that was released along with the toy a while ago and will drop in time for the holidays, on December 17th, 2011.

This week Original Fake will release the new Companion Snowman T-Shirt. Perfectly fitting the season, the t-shirt features the iconic Kaws Companion character building a snowman. The tee comes in a series of colors and will officially drop on December 10th, 2011.

Initially produced for his Tokyo exhibition, we can give you a good look at the collaborative t-shirt by artists Eric Elms and Kaws today. Eric Elms’ Kilroy character meets the Companion character by Kaws for the tee. Surprisingly, the t-shirt is not produced under the Original Fake brand, but rather specifically for the exhibition and is also branded as such.

For the 2011 Winter Luxury Issue of Whitewall Magazine, they invited Brooklyn artist Kaws to design the cover in two versions. In addition to the covers, the magazine also included a 12-page Kaws studio visit in the issue, “including an in-depth interview, portraits of the artist, images of his new work, and KAWS’ own sketches and blueprints of his sculptures and paintings.” The magazine will be released in time for Art Basel Miami, December 2011.

We reported not long ago regarding a new KAWS exhibition taking place at Atlanta’s High Museum and it looks as if things are moving along quite nicely. Wish was on hand to snap some photos of one of the artist’s large scale Companions as it is being set up for the upcoming exhibit.

We  have reported several times about the Takashi Murakami organized charity auction “New Day: Artists for Japan”, in association with Christie’s. The event finally took place Wednesday morning in New York City and was jam packed with both collectors and fans of the Japanese artist. Participating artists included Zeng Fanzhi, Mark Grotjahn, Damien Hirst, Thomas Houseago, KAWS, Jeff Koons, Friedrich Kunath, Mr., Yoshimoto Nara, Gabriel Orozco, Anselm Reyle, Cindy Sherman, Aya Takano and Luc Tuymans.

Our favorite, Kaws, got a record high for his “Kawsbob Enters the Strange Forest” (2011) painting, at a whooping 155′000 USD. Having followed him now for such a long time, it is great seeing him come this far. A price war between the Paris dealer of the artist, Emmanuel Perrotin, and one of his clients, forced the price up to 155′000 USD.

The highest piece of work sold during the auction, was the Jeff Koons “Balloon Monkey Wall Relief” for exactly 1′000′000 USD. All in all the auction raised almost 9 Million USD for the Japanese earthquake victims, which is simply incredible. (Via AI)

Just before Christmas, Harbour City in Hong Kong will be releasing collaborative plastic tote bags with New York artist Kaws and AllRightsReserved. Entitled “Santa Cross Is Coming To City”, the tote bags feature a Kaws Companion character dressed up as Santa and they come in two colorways. These will be available at Harbour City on 17th and 18th of December, 2011. (Via Easttouch)

This week Parisian concept store colette launched the Hennessy x Kaws VS Cognac Bottle. Aside from the original one, that we already presented a while ago, they also released a special colette edition of the bottle. It features the same Kaws designs in the trademark colette blue and it is limited to 213 bottles, the house number of the store, located on the Rue Saint Honore in Paris.

Auction house Christie’s will be teaming up with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and his company Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd. to support the victims of the March 11, 2011 Tohoku-Pacific earthquake in Japan. For the occasion a dedicated section of their November 9th, 2011, auction in New York was given to Murakami. Murakami contributed works himself to be auction off and chose other works from some of contemporary art’s biggest names to support the event. Works by Zeng Fanzhi, Mark Grotjahn, Damien Hirst, Thomas Houseago, KAWS, Jeff Koons, Friedrich Kunath, Mr., Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Gabriel Orozco, Anselm Reyle, Cindy Sherman, Aya Takano, and Luc Tuymans will be part of the sale.

Gagosian Gallery will be holding a preview of the works from the auction, from Wednesday, October 26th to Friday, October 28th at their Madison Avenue Gallery in New York.
