Opening Ceremony x Keds

Following first their Americana inspired collection for Opening Ceremony, Keds has revealed the second portion of the project with these two animal inspired styles. And although the first territorial reference point that comes to mind is Africa, these are in fact a riff on 70s British Punk. Featured here in Cheetah and Zebra-print ponyhair, these kicks are certainly easier to wear than OC’s recent costume-like Where The Wild Things Are merch. Scheduled to drop in December at $125 USD a pair. (style.com)

Richard Chai x Keds Sneaker Collection

Designer Richard Chai got together with Keds to design a collection of sneakers. “Chai will offer a variety of high- and low-top styles from Madras canvas to charcoal gray leather, with edgy details such as zippers in lieu of laces. Prices for the shoes, which will hit stores in January, have yet to be determined.” Via WWD.

It looks like the Richard Chai x Keds Footwear Collection will hit stores for Spring/Summer 2010.

Keds for Opening Ceremony Collection

Classic footwear label Keds is the latest brand to receive the Opening Ceremony treatment. Staying true to their “penchant for internationalism, each Keds collection will look to a single country for inspiration. First on the roster: The United States. The premier collection of unisex Keds and Pro-Keds incorporates emblems of classic Americana, like bandanna prints, denim, chambray, and bright primary colors with nautical striped laces.” The first collection will be available on September 10th in correlation with Opening Ceremony’s FASHION’S NIGHT OUT festivities. Keds got together with Loomstate to produce their first ever eco-friendly footwear. Rogan Gregory and Scott Hahn designed a collection of sneakers for Keds, that will be distributed exclusively at Barneys New York.

“The shoes are eco-friendly with organic uppers and linings, nickel-free eyelets, recycled insole board and shoe boxes and no tissue paper in the packaging. Also, a percentage of sales go to the Organic Exchange.” Via LA Times.

Prices at 75 USD, the Keds by Loomstate footwear will hit Barneys this coming Monday.
