Keds announces their sponsorship of the Whitney Museum of American Art summer season alongside a new collabortive KedsWhitney Collection. The first piece from the collection is a set of Champion sneakers featuring work from conceptual artist Jenny Holzer. Available exclusively at select Bloomingdale’s stores nationwide, as well as on bloomingdales.com and keds.com starting in July 2010. All Keds’ profits from Jenny Holzer’s line will benefit the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Opening Ceremony shows off the third installment in their ongoing partnership with Keds. This time they look to London once again. “Like our last installment of custom Keds sneakers, these classic low-top Pro-Keds in vibrant fluorescent Ultrasuede pay homage to British subcultural style–specifically the shocking neon ‘dos of punker kids everywhere, from Camden Town to St. Marks Place. Available exclusively at Opening Ceremony stores in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and online.”

Keds offers a look into their latest summer styles. “The Keds Champion is one of the iconic shoes of all time, getting its start all the way back in 1916. A companion Chukka was recently adopted for the U.S. market, courtesy of the distributor in Japan. Keds recently launched these versions done in chambray fabrics and classic shirting stripes.” Available now at select accounts.

U.S. Keds has released a great selection of new footwear in Japan. Classic silhouettes come in beautiful canvas versions. Branding is kept to the minimum and the line-up offers a good selection of summer shoes, working with thick canvas uppers and oxford fabrics, as well as nice small details. The collection includes the low top Triumph and and Yoeman styles, as well as the mid top Chakker. They are now available from AC.

Keds have released a collaborative Steven Alan collection for Spring 2010. Each of the four slip on styles features great spring materials and patterns and are available now at all Steven Alan stores as well as American Rag, Atrium and Bird. The shoes come in both men’s and women’s sizes.

Japanese brand Calee collaborates with Keds. They worked on a high top canvas sneaker. Details around the eyelets come in black leather, the toe cap in black as well. Logo hits and details are set in a nice strong orange. The sneaker is now available from Lighca.

Cool Hunting reports on the first shoe (in a series of 10) from Keds’ new Century Collection. “The “Champion Take Flight” tackles the 1910s with a look that’s equal parts dapper menswear and ladylike detailing. Washed sateen lends an unexpected touch of shine, while a cap toe, other leather details and a striped lining speak to a classic early 20th century feel. We can imagine Amelia Earhart sporting the gum soled-footwear, though Keds cites “America’s coming of age during Industrial Revolution” as its inspiration.” Keds will introduce a new sneaker from the Century Collection each month, so look out for more. The Take Flight is limited to 200 pairs and available is now as a Keds.com exclusive.

Originally introduced in the early ’70’s, this classic basketball sneaker was worn by some of the game’s greatest players as well as many pioneers of NYC street culture. On the heels of their video lookbook PRO-Keds shares a more conventional shoot of their Spring 2010 collection. Shot in NYC, the lookbook celebrates PRO-Keds and it’s unique bond with the Rotten Apple. The first part of the collection is out now at key retailers, with additional product drops to come early March.
