Lana Del Rey’s hit ‘Blue Jeans’ gets the remix treatment by Smims&Belle, who’ve put one of the other latest hot female artists to emerge on the track too. Although John Mayer is not in the business of singing at the moment due to a recent surgery to remove a lump from his vocal chords, he still took some time while in recovery to put together a cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games” all done on guitar. Of course there is a lot of news around Biggie Smalls aka The Notorious B.I.G. these days, as on March 9th was the 15th anniversary of his passing. Today we present to you a new mixtape by Terry Urban, bringing together the tunes of Lana Del Rey and Notorious B.I.G., a mash up of the past and the present. Here is what Urban had to say about the mixtape.

“Hello everyone, Im gonna get right to it… In honor of Biggie’s passing 15 years ago on March 9, 1997, I wanted to do a special project. Mick Boogie and I honored the anniversary of his passing with a special project called Unbelievable, which was hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs and exceded 500k downloads online. But to pay tribute this time, I wanted to do something different. Merge music styles. Bridge audiences together in new ways. So I proudly present to you along with the homies from Dope Couture… Lana Del Rey and Notorious Big… Born Ready To Die. In a recent T Magazine issue, Lana Del Rey made the cover and the spread was produced by Terry Richardson. We already posted the initial spread here a couple of weeks ago, but today Terry Richardson gives a more in-depth behind the scenes look at the shoot.

An appropriate title, “This Charming Video Game”, brings together The Smiths and Lana Del Rey together in one music video. The This Charming Man and Video Games’ video mashup works quite well together. Video Game’s previous video aesthetic borrowing from old footage makes the mashup barely unnoticeable. Lana Del Reys’ tone and nature also compliment’s The Smiths’ already pre-established musical style.

Controversial singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey, who released her long-awaited debut album this week at No. 2 on the Billboard charts, got behind the lens of photographer Terry Richardson for The New York Times T Magazine. In the raw, classically Richardson shoot she wears clothing by Carven, Emporio Armani Underwear, Opening Ceremony, Christian Dior, Chanel, Diesel and Charlotte Olympia for Peter Som. We love the look.

For the first time Lana Del Rey is making the Vogue cover, which is obviously a pretty big deal for the up- and coming singer. The March 2012 issue of Vogue UK will feature Del Rey in Louis Vuitton on the cover, along with a full shoot inside the issue by Mario Testino. The issue hits newsstands on February 6th.
