To mark the opening of next month’s Star Wars Miniland at Legoland Windsor, some UK Legomasters created a series of Star Wars Lego miniatures invading London.
Here is a good one – Planet Streetpainting from Holland created a 3D terracota LEGO army of soldiers for the Sarasota Chalk Festival. For the 3D Pavement Art segment for the festival, “Dutch collective ‘Planet Streetpainting’ stole the show with their witty piece, the ’3D Lego Army’. Inspired by China’s Terracotta Army, the team replaced the soldiers with several iconic Lego designs, working their trademark 3D magic to breathtaking effect.”

The outcome is definitely stunning and makes for a cool effect. Check out the process for this piece after the jump.

News of a Mercedes-Benz Unimog 60th Anniversary Vehicle has hit the net, in the form of a scale LEGO Technic replica that features 2048 elements. “The impressive vehicle which links a combination of electric drive and pneumatics has been produced… as a true adaptation of the original down to the smallest details… The so-called ” Power Functions ” run the pump of a pneumatically operated crane with a gripper arm that can rotate almost 360 degrees. With its gripper and the front winch, the Unimog can move any load out of the way.” It is a completely serviceable vehicle.”

An interesting new version of the Pentax Optio NB1000 has been released, adding a custom Lego style look to the digital camera.

“Japanese imaging company Pentax’s Optio NB1000 Point and Shoot camera has a front panel which is covered in a Lego-like piece compatible with nanoblocks (a construction block system similar to lego) from Japan’s Diablock. Different sizes of these blocks can be attached to the face of the camera so that you can personalize it with patterns, mini sculptures. The blocks also have more than just an aesthetic appeal. they can be used to help capture your images – arrangement around the lens can form frames for your pictures.”

Take a further look at the camera after the jump.
