As part of their new Spring/Summer 2012 Collection Junya Watanabe Comme des Garcons MAN once again worked together with Levi’s. This season they present the 1966 JWXX denim. While staying true to the Junya style of playing with patchwork patterns and fabrics, cotton canvas, corduroy and leather were used this season. Haven already has them in stock.

Recently Levi’s opened a new flagship store in Amsterdam. Designed by agency Como Park, reuse, rebrand, rejuvenate was the concept of the new shop. The new store is not only supposed to reflect the Levi’s brand, but also the city of Amsterdam. When it comes to flagship store design, we are never sure if a local and unique approach or a global easily recognizable approach is the better way to go.

“Jaworski reused the lighting and wooden floor from Levi’s Bread & Butter stand. He left 80 per cent of the walls intact and mounted old doors on vintage church benches to create a long display table for denim apparel.

The inventiveness, passion and humour at the heart of this project might be an interesting starting point for stores in other cities, each of which could morph to become both unique and uniquely Levi’s.”

A pretty cool new tote bag comes out of a collaboration between Levi’s Japan and Harris Tweed. Of course both denim fabrics and Harris Tweed fabrics are used on the bag, which comes with nice leather reinforced leather straps. The bag is now available from the e-Levi online store.

Not new to the collaboration game and also not to each other, Stussy and Levi’s once again team up for a small capsule for Holiday 2011. This season the collection includes Work Pants, Regular Fit Straight Denim, Sta-Prest chinos, 1st Trucker Jacket, a Chambray work shirt and a Trucker Vest. The theme of the collection is ‘Blue Sundries’, with royal blue accents featured on almost all pieces of the line.

The collection will be released on October 29th, 2011.

Levis Japan has released two excellent specimens of the Navajo patterned shirt. Constructed of a heavily printed chambray, the shirts exemplify the best of the popular pattern in either greyscale or an orange and black. Partake at e-levi.

As part of their Fall/Winter 2011 Collection, Supreme presents a capsule collection in collaboration with Levi’s. This collection includes a Supreme Edition of the classic Levi’s 505 Zip-Fly Jean, a Chambray Work Shirt, a Trucker Jacket in Leather and Suede, a Denim Down Vest, and a Denim Bell Hat. All products are Made In The U.S.A. The collection will launch in Supreme stores on September 15th, in Japan on September 17th and in London on September 22nd.

To further promote this collection, Levi’s has teamed up with a selection local bike crews, influential bike shops and individuals to create a unique project that integrates the creative identity of local heroes with the iconic Trucker Jacket.

Junya Watanabe Comme des Garcons MAN continues its collaboration with Levi’s, which has been going on for several seasons already now. For Fall/Winter 2011 they present a new pair of patchwork denim, featuring plaid and leather patches on a washed jeans with corduroy accent set around the waist. A little heavy on the eyes for our taste, but some Junya fans will for sure not mind. The jeans are now available from colette.

Tailored to the demand of urban cyclists, Levi’s will soon be launching the Commuter Series. The first drop includes the 511 Commuter Skinny Jeans and the Commuter Trucker Jacket.

“The jeans have a U-lock storing waistband, and the waistband is raised to ensure against the ever unwanted crack attack. The jacket also features a slight tail for maximum coverage while hunched over, and has touring pockets in the back.

The line is a lot more than just crafty patternmaking though. Levi’s partnered with Swiss-based Schoeller Technologies AG to premier their NanoSphere treatment into Levi’s denim. NanoSphere is basically a super treatment that makes fabric both water resistant and dirt repellant. Take that, add Clariant’s Sanitized treatment, and you get durability plus built-in odors protection, because, let’s face it, you get sweaty while biking. In addition to the double treated light-stretch denim, the pieces are completed with nifty sewing tricks like a reinforced stitching in high-stress areas (crotch, pockets, etc.), and reflective 3M Scotchlite fabric tape in key areas.”

The outcome is not only something entirely new for Levi’s, but a rather impressive set of urban cycling gear, no matter how you look at it.

For Summer 2011 once again Stussy and Levi’s get together. In this latest series of products, Stussy chose items that have disappeared from Levi’s store shelves over the last years and customized them with their own aesthetic. The outcome is a custom capsule collection, featuring 505 denim, shorts, shirts and pants. All items feature special embroidery and patch details. Look out for a release this week.

Some really nice looking camera straps have resulted from a recent collaboration between Levi’s and Monday. Signature materials of the denim giant were used for the straps, including both denim and leather. The straps come in red and black with embossed logo details on the leather parts.

The trucker jacket series, celebrating some of the biggest names from the Art in the Streets exhibition has produced some real quality, and this is no exception. I’m an unabashed fan of ESPO, so take that for what it is worth, but I’m genuinely quite impressed by MOCA’s corporate sponsorship surrounding the exhibition as well.”
