We recently caught up with filmmaker Luke Monaghan to learn about the top 5 places to eat in his city of London, UK. Coincidentally he’d just finished shooting a short film on his number one pick, The Modern Pantry in Clerkenwell. In this film he visits the Canadian-born, New Zealand raised Modern Pantry owner and head chef Anna Hansen. Check out the film above and continue reading for a full run down of Luke’s top five eateries.

Modern Pantry, Clerkenwell
Probably my favourite restaurant in London, I haven’t not been amazed any time I’ve eaten here. It’s amazing food served in a ‘not too stuffy’ atmosphere, the chef is pretty in demand too, with awards for her food beginning to fill up one of The Modern Pantry’s backroom cupboards. The brunch is meant to be glorious to, so when in London, book a table.

Nike’s latest Stadium space, at London department store Selfridges, plays host to the ultimate football experience.

From watching their favourite team’s matches live on the state-of-the-art High-Definition, 4×4-metre screen to visiting one of the rooms adjacent to the viewing stadium to play table football or the latest video games, fans will feel as close to the action as it is possible to be whilst staying in central London. There will also be an exhibition of iconic and rarely seen Nike kits to marvel at and bring back some cherished football memories.

Altogether 62 plasma screens ranging from 19” to 50” wide, all operated via a ‘Hippotizer’ system will create a wrap-around wall of sound and enhanced images within the main space to ensure the Nike Stadium at Selfridges experience is never short of breathtaking – even in between the matches.

Looking beyond the obvious support of the English football team, the Nike Stadium at Selfridges will pay homage to the most successful and feared footballing nation of all time – Brasil. The space itself takes its inspiration from the country’s famed on-pitch passion and energy and its design follows the yellow, green and blue colour cues of the national flag. Elements of Brasilian culture from dance and music to art and entertainment will be seamlessly incorporated into the Nike Stadium at Selfridges to create the ultimate sensory football experience.

To coincide with the launch of the stadium in the Ultralounge, Nike and Selfridges have also created a bespoke retail environment on the store’s first floor Menswear area. This new shopping space will showcase the very best of Nike Sportswear’s products, including a number of exclusive pieces from the NSW Collection to exclusive footwear.

Have a closer look after the jump.

A new retail outlet has recently opened in the UK – Heartless. The store houses labels including YSL, Balenciaga, Yohji Yamamoto and also more directional brands including Mastermind Japan, new label by Greg Chiat, The Elder Statesman, Dr Romanelli (UK exclusives), Drestrip and many more.

They also sell designer furniture and lifestyle products by Assouline, Ruby Helmets and the gorgeous grooming line Santa Maria Novella. The store exhibits and sells urban art by D*Face, Pure Evil and Swoon and music is provided by the legendary Rough Trade.

Their VIP service AKA ‘ The Black Service’ is a real talking point. The client is picked up in one of Heartless’ fleet (cars include a matt black Lamborghini through to a classic VW Camper Van!). They are then transported to the store and are met by a personal shopper who will take them through the collections and offer advice but not before a good, cold beer has been consumed! After shopping they are dropped off at their destination.

The interior design is gorgeous. A nice mix of modern furniture and antiques gives the store a warm atmosphere. In terms of brand line-up and selection there are not many stores around the globe that we can compare Heartless to. The ones that come up when thinking about it are maybe Apartment Berlin and Maxfields L.A.

If you are in the UK, do not miss out checking Heartless. If you are not, then make sure to have a look at their online store, which carries most goods that are in store.

After the jump many more images of the interior of Heartless.

Check those out and some interior views after the jump.

"Brightening up this decidedly gloomy summer is illustrator James Jarvis’ new installation at NikeTown in London. A giant bird features in his window display for the Oxford Street store while, inside the foyer, there’s also an eight-panel vinyl artwork with the same avian character donning his Nike Windrunner jacket.
Beanie Brownjohn at Make Stuff sculpted the figure in the window display and free posters relating to the designs may still be available from the store. When we presented you yesterday the letters I to P of the Adidas aZX project, you might have realized that unlike in the first group there were only six shoes, instead of eight, and that in fact two letters were missing in the presentation – the I and the O. Well, those we will present you exclusively here, starting with the I, which stands for the Adidas I-Stores.
Taking the ZX 700 silhouette and reworking the upper slickly, the I-Store version takes the letter ‘I’ and mixes bold colours with muted shades and premium leather applications to give it a completely different look that amplifies the original design’s high points with fresh details like the orange ghilly fastening and ribbed panel on the forefoot. A dose of green makes for a striking look, while the suede tongue detailing and simple but effective split heel panel application, decorated with 6 (London) and 74 (Berlin) to represent the selected adidas store locations completes a memorable makeover.
This shoe will only be available at the Adidas Icon stores in London and Berlin, also called No. 6 and No. 74.
Many more detailed images of the Adidas ZX 700 I-Store after the jump.

The Fall/Winter 2008 collection brings you both a lo and hi-top in four colorways. Gone are the days of gothic, horror humorous characters for D.I.E. – the range is now tighter but there’s still a reference to D.I.E. heritage with a “flesh stitch” print and a new plaid print that goes nicely with some of this season’s clothing collections. Definitely an interesting move by the magazine and yet another step in the direction to bring magazines and newsstands into the next century.
