Maharishi and their more middle-market MHI by Maharishi have both delivered a batch goods for the Autumn/Winter 2009 season. Taking cues from the stock market crash, excessive wealth, TARP money and government bailouts, MHI by Maharishi presents a series of concept-driven, printed-based garments. Continuing the meeting-of-minds the Five-Two 3 collection instigated with the Maharishi Stan Smith makeup, Maharishi’s expertise with technical fabrics and ‘decommisioned’ military history mixed with adidas’s heavyweight athletic heritage has generated a capsule collection of design classics that blends seminal shoe designs and apparel with premium innovation, painstaking levels of attention-to-detail and heavyweight thought processes. Blending a strong focus on visual appeal, while dwelling on timeless quality that’s built to last, this project amplifies the best of both brands as the ‘mahadidas’ XV collection celebrates 15 years of Maharishi with their trademark precision.

The collaborative 15th anniversary collection consists of the Forum Mid that we already showed you in detail the other day. We actually thought it was an unreleased sample, which now does not seem to be the case anymore. Furthermore they present a matching hooded flock, Superstar tracktop and a slimfit t-shirt. The other we presented to you the adidas Orignals x Maharishi Stan Smith from the Five-Two 3 Project. Today we can give you a look at the Forum Mid from the very same project, also using chambray and leather on the light blue upper, as well as the same logos and graphics as the Stan Smith. The Forum Mid will never be released and is only a sample, but we thought it was well worth checking out.

Another high profile collaboration comes as part of the adidas Originals Five-Two 3 Project Brands Pack. This time they worked with Maharishi on the classic Stan Smith.

In line with maharishi’s strong ‘decommissioned’ army influences, drawing attention to the beauty of camo patterns and clothing design and negating the military associations, the light blue canvas upper of this Stan Smith makeup draws inspiration from a less obvious piece of regulation apparel – naval chambray shirting circa WWII.

Contrasting white stitching continues the theme, while a red top eyelet, metal eyelets reinforcing the trademark ‘3-Stripes’ of perforation make for subtle but effective detailing. The brand’s signature dragon motif is embroidered on the tongue, with a maharishi logo applied on the heel and a special ‘XV mahadidas’ sockliner to complete a unique meeting-of-minds.

After showing you already the adidas Originals x Nom de Guerre Forum Mid from the Five-Two 3 Project, we can preview today the XLarge, Maharishi and Porter collaborations from the Project. XLarge worked on the Superstar and gave it a multicolored faux snakeskin upper. Maharishi worked on the Stan Smith 80 and gave it a chambray upper. Porter from Japan worked with one of their custom nylon materials on the upper and added a zipper along the heel on the Nizza Hi LX. All three sneakers will be available soon at Proper.

Once again Maharishi gets together with the Andy Warhol Foundation as part of their Spring 2009 Collection. This time they chose a dollar graphic, filled with an Andy Warhol camouflage. They present a t-shirt and hoodie with the graphic, and both are available now at End.

We give you a look at the Maharishi Spring 2009 Desert Zip Boot. It comes in an off-white leather/canvas/hemp upper, features minimal branding and a zipper going over the side. These will go for 170 USD and will be released in the near future at Maharishi retailers. Via Soleblvd.

Previewed here a couple of months ago, we give you a more detailed look at the collaboration between Medicom Toy, Porter and Maharishi on a luggage collection. Each partner contributed a different aspect to the project. Medicom Toy produced the fabrick of the bags, Maharishi provided the camouflage design and Porter the silhouettes and contruction of the bags. The outcome is a small collection consisting of a technical backpack, a tote bag, wallet and digicam/cellphone pouch.

The Medicom Toy x Porter x Maharishi collection is now available at Ships Jet Blue.

While Maharishi’s mainline remains a favorite, their footwear program remains hit or miss. The latest to step out of the firm is the “Sequoia.” Employing herringbone tweed ankle panels, the boot transforms from mid to high top. Maharishi has worked with Po-Zu to make these shoes completely organic. And, they are down to the box. As a mid, the shoe gives that vibe. The unstructured look and feel of organic footwear. Unlike some competition, the shaping is a little more robust, and the added ankle portions set it apart on the style front. Retailing for $255, it’s above the fray in price point as well.

Maharishi and Po-Zu got together to to create a entirely biodegradable boot. Coconut fiber foot matress gradually moulds to the shape of your foot. It provides excellent breathability to keep your feet dry and good insulation for both hot and cold climates.

Also it is nice that you can wear the boot in different ways – all the way closed or with the flap down, showing off the nice plaid wool lining.
