maharishi Blazer in ‘DPM: Bonsai All Terrain’ Camo

maharishi Blazer in 'DPM Bonsai All Terrain' Camo-01
maharishi aims to convey a strong anti-war sentiment through its use of camouflage – reclaiming its symbolic value away from war, back to its roots in nature and development by artists and to highlight objections to continued 21st century warfare.

This message is best described in DPM: Disruptive Pattern Material, a 944-page encyclopedia of camouflage by Hardy Blechman. As such, a highlight to their latest season is this blazer in a Bonsai All Terrain pattern. Now available here.

maharishi ‘Into The Light: Survival 2012′ Fall/Winter 2011 Lookbook

maharishi fall/winter 2011 collection lookbook

Maharishi presents a modern special forces inspired collection for Fall/Winter 2011, entitled ‘Into the Light: Survival 2012′. High tech webbing and other interesting production methods have been applied, as well as Swiss Riri zippers and overall a range of high tech Swiss materials, including the densely woven naturally waterproof organic cotton ETA, Schoeller cloth with anti-abrasion Kevlar fibres, alongside more elaborate pieces in several types of 3M reflective material which only turn on when exposed to direct white light; incorporated within construction thread, cloth, print ink and embroidery threads.

maharishi has long produced all its jersey and sweat in Organic yarn, and this season many of the wovens are also organic. A darkened palette of black and charcoal makes up the main color theme of the collection.

The Fall/Winter 2011 range is certainly a new look for maharishi in comparison to previous collections, while still staying true to many of founding principles.

London Undercover x Maharishi “Bamdazzle” Umbrellas

London Undercover x Maharishi "Bamdazzle" Umbrellas

Selectism just reported the other day about the collaboration between London Undercover and Tenue de Nimes on the denim umbrella. Today we bring you first images of the Maharishi collaboration with the umbrella makers.

“The pattern on the fabric has been inspired by the dazzle paint scheme used on Navy ships during World War 1. The complex geometric shapes were designed to confuse a German torpedo operator as to the direction the ship was travelling, the distance away and how fast it was moving.

With DPM’s aim to detach camouflage from its military associations and promote its national roots and artistic influences, the Bamdazzle pattern incorporates multiple contrasting Bamboo stems, interrupting and intersecting each other. The theme is continued in the make up of the umbrella with a special natural Bamboo/Whangee handle.

Available in 2 variants, the umbrellas are made in allied France with a traditional metal frame and runner attached to a natural beech wood shaft. The premium umbrellas come with a special collaboration label and engraved metal plate.”

The two umbrellas are now available at the London store of Maharishi and in their online store for 120 Pounds.

Advantage Cycle x Medicom Toy x Cassette Playa/Maharishi/Will Sweeney Luggage Collections

In their latest collaboration with Medicom Toy, Japanese store Advantage Cycle has invited Cassette Playa, Maharishi and artist Will Sweeney to create their own luggage and accessory collections. Included in the product range are backpacks, fanny packs, cushions, wallets and more. We especially like the Maharishi camo used in the line and Cassette Playa also created an intriguing all-over design, using their signature colors, yet managing to keep it a little more subtle than usual.

Check out all three product ranges after the jump.

maharishi Spring/Summer 2011 Collection Lookbook

We already showed you a video of the maharishi Spring/Summer 2011 Collection presentation, which took place early July in Berlin. Here is now a closer inspection of the upcoming season of the London brand.

“This season maharishi presents a 1940 s North African Desert military inspired collection entitled Theatre of War . With references to the forerunners of the SAS, the Long Range Desert Group (L.R.D.G.), the range features military inspired staples in distressed cottons and natural fibres including washed Irish linen and hemp, alongside more elaborate pieces in super lightweight voluminous voiles and recycled vintage parachute cord. A muted palette of washed vintage olive, sand and white makes up the main colour theme of the collection.”

Many more images of the new maharishi Spring/Summer 2011 Collection follow after the jump.
