First images of the upcoming Pentax K-01 camera, designed by Marc Newson, have leaked this week. But the camera does not only look cool, it also comes with the world’s thinnest interchangeable lens.

“This unifocal standard lens offers a focal length equivalent to 61mm in the 35mm format, and measures a mere 9.2 millimeters in length, making it the world’s thinnest interchangeable lens. Thanks to its super-thin design, it is highly portable and easy to store and carry. Its optics were designed based on those of the acclaimed smc PENTAX-DA 40mm F2.8 Limited lens. Its maximum aperture of F2.8 produces sharp, bright images in a wide range of applications, including snapshots, scenic photos, portraits, and even incident-light indoor shooting.”

The collection features a range of sweaters, shirts, battle pants and swim shorts, most of which incorporate a simplified camouflage print.

We take a further look at Australian designer Marc Newson’s latest range of clothing designed for brand G-Star RAW. Featuring bold graphics, the collection includes t-shirts, hoodies and jackets with printed outlines, contrasting colours and metallic finishes. Many references to Newson’s interest in space travel can be found over the range of cartoonish garments.

In honor of the opening of “Transport”, an exhibition that brings together Marc Newson’s extensive works on transportation and human locomotion, Nike and Marc Newson will produce a limited run of the Nike Zvezdochka. Taking its name from the Russian Dog who ventured into space aboard the Sputnik 10 in 1961, the Nike Zvezdochka was originally conceived in 2004 from Newson’s fascination with space travel and the rigorous exercise required of cosmonauts in the depths of outer space.

On September 13th, the Nike Zvezdochka by Marc Newson will be available exclusively at the Gagosian Shop, New York, 988 Madison Ave, M-Sun10am-7pm and the day following at Nike Sportswear at 21 Mercer Street, M-Sat 11am-7pm, Sun 12pm-6pm. “Transport” opens on September 14th at Gagosian Gallery, 522 West 21st Street in New York City and will remain on view through October 16th 2010.

G-Star continues its creative collaboration with designer, Marc Newson, with a Limited Edition Spring/Summer 2010 collection, to be made available through high-end retail boutiques including 10 Corso Como in Milan, Seoul and Tokyo, Colette in Paris, Moss in New York and Moss and Maxfield in Los Angeles.

The collection features Newson’s modern interpretation of four classic styled jackets and two T-Shirts, available in both men and women’s cuts and based around an Indigo Blue palate. The traditional utilitarian fabrics associated with each style are replaced by premium materials, presenting a creative fusion of street-wear silhouettes and couture-level fabrics.

The Mesh Leather Jacket takes the classic nylon jersey and presents it in ultra-soft, perforated leather, with silk collar, cuff and waistband detailing, while the Nappa Bonded Hooded Jacket transforms the traditional hoody by fusing a 100% calf leather exterior to a delicate Japanese fabric interior. Both jackets feature kimono-style sleeves, removing stitching from the shoulder area to maximize comfort.

The Silk Jacket uses a Punto di Roma knit technique to fashion the body of a track-style jacket from high- quality silk and completes the look with leather sleeves, while the Galaxy Jacket features a distinctive allover Galaxy print on its Paclite Goretex exterior. Both jackets feature A-line-style zip detailing with hidden pockets and minimal seams, ensuring clean silhouettes without sacrificing practicality.

The Long Sleeve Tee is made from army-style waffle jersey and, along with the 100% cotton Short Sleeve Tee, features washed leather strips on the upper back and arms as art-work.

The collection will debut with selected retail partners from January 2010.

Norman Mailer’s MoonFire was an instant sold-out success for the entire printrun of 1,969 copies, each signed by Apollo 11 LMP Buzz Aldrin. The last twelve copies of this historic edition, numbers 1,958 – 1,969 are now for sale in a special “Lunar Rock Edition” designed by one of the most accomplished and influential designers of our time, Marc Newson.

Packaged in an Apollo 11 LEM inspired case, made from a single piece of aluminum, each copy includes a print signed by Buzz Aldrin and a unique specimen of lunar rock – one of the rarest substances on Earth. The first copy will be on display at the TASCHEN booth at Art Basel Miami Beach, December 2–5, 2009. Runs for about $90,500 USD.

The store will stay open for a limited time only and is selling a special 20th anniversary collection of limited edition product, designed by Marc Newson, who has previously already worked with the Dutch denim label on several capsule collections. Most of you should know by now that later this week the much anticipated Nike Stages Exhibition will open its doors in Paris at the Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin. The artist line-up is very impressive. Upon arrival guests will be receiving an extremely limited Nike Sportswear Livestrong Zvezdochka, which will no be for sale and was especially made for the event. Unless you are on the invite list, you will have a hard time getting your hands onto these Marc Newson designed sneakers.

Since 6 years Marc Newson is working with G-Star on small capsule clothing collections, translating his design vision into clothing. This season the designer presents his monochromatic collection, which was launched during Paris Fashion Week.

“Known for an ‘architectonic approach’ to clothing design, G-Star’s urban luxury lends itself well to Newson’s constructed, geometric creative method – clean lines, raw materials and intricate craftsmanship take precedence on both sides.

The new collection features 5 black outer-garments for men, and 4 white outer-garments for women, produced from materials ranging from wool and leather to laminated Gore-tex.” Via Wallpaper.
