Paying homage to giants of contemporary art, Mark Dean Veca’s “Phantasmagoria” opens this Saturday at Ben Maltz Gallery at Otis College. Damien Hirst’s famous skull and Kaws “XX” eyes are mixed with iconic elements of American popular culture – Popeye and Abraham Lincoln. Veca’s installation takes the whole space, painting through the galleries to create a fully enveloping experience. The result is a series of elaborately detailed pieces with a psychedelic view of post modern pop culture.

Some of our favorites from the Phantasmagoria preview after the jump.
