Video: JR x Massive Attack – “Encrages” at Galerie Perrotin

In November we reported about the impressive opening of the JR ‘Encrages’ exhibition at Galerie Perrotin in Paris, featuring a live set of Massive Attack. This week the official recap video of the opening of the show has been released, beautifully portraying the mood of the set and the mass of people that attended the show opening.

Check out the film directed by Guillaume Cagniard here below.

The exhibition closes on January 7th, so make sure to quickly go by this week.

JR's Paris Exhibition Opens with Massive Attack Live Set

Wow, that is all we can say at this point. We knew that artist JR can mobilize a crowd, but we can certainly not remember the last time a gallery opening with such a bag. We previewed the ‘Encourages’ Exhibition by the artist at Galerie Perrotin last week and also showed you the massive wall artwork on the outside of the gallery.

On November 19th, the exhibition opened with a huge crowd and a live set by Massive Attack. Not only was the entire courtyard of the gallery packed, people from the buildings around the gallery also enjoyed the music and scene.

Massive Attack’s Meltdown

highsnobiety - massive attack's meltdown
For nine days in June (starting the 14th) Bristol’s Massive Attack takes control of London’s South Bank. As directors of this years Meltdown Festival, they follow in the footsteps of David Bowie, Lee Perry and Morrissey. Every venue of the South Bank Centre will be utilized for film showings, concerts, dj sets and visual art displays.
Highlights include two sets by Massive Attack themselves and a gig from George Clinton. Also exciting is the show featuring MC5 and Primal Scream. The two groups will play alone and then combine on a collaborative set on June 24.
For more on the festival go here.
