During mastermind Japan’s runway show at Versus Tokyo, they created as mall run of these rather cute Skull Kid plush toys that were distributed to lucky people in attendance at the event. Well, some were produces for retail and here is a look at them. Zozo has a small run of them, so head over there if you would like to pick one up.

For this Holiday 2011 season, mastermind Japan, who actually just announced their final collection to be released next year, and SASQUATCHfabrix have just dropped this interesting double-zip up sneaker. Aside from the zipper features, it’s a basic high-top in appearance that seems to be constructed out of a very durable canvas material. Other details include leather around the collar and side walls featuring both brands’ logos.

mastermind JAPAN designer and founder Masaaki Honma has announced that Spring/Summer 2013 will be the brand’s final collection. Though this news may come as a surprise to fans of the label, Honma says he had been contemplating the end of mastermind JAPAN for some time. Preferring to stop while he’s ahead, Honma hopes the brand will live on in the vintage market and be appreciated for many generations to come. Although this is sad news for many, we’re sure it won’t be long before Honma moves on to a new project.

Coming with the February 2012 issue of Japan’s Sense Magazine is the above Bape x mastermind JAPAN 100% Bearbrick by Medicom. The toy comes in matte black with metallic gold branding. Certainly one of the better gifts to come with a magazine we would say.

Here is a little preview of an upcoming collaboration between Bape, Medicom Toy and mastermind JAPAN for BlackSense Market next year. The three teamed up on a black 100% Bearbrick toy, featuring logo placements of both Japanese brands in gold. We will of course keep you posted on the release.

This week the collaboration between Converse Japan and mastermind JAPAN will release. The two brands have worked on the Jack Purcell Hi Zip. It comes in a black canvas colorway with leather ankle wrapping, graphic details on the toe box and mastermind logos on the tongue, heel and zippers. Furthermore a small stud detail has been placed above the eyelets.

Priced at around 200 USD, the sneaker will drop at mastermind JAPAN Villa.

Here is a pretty interesting merging of two very distinct logos. Mastermind Japan’s skull and crossbones logo has been intertwined with the iconic Playboy bunny logo – kind of a death meets sensuality theme – as part of a capsule collection in conjunction with Theatre8. Seen here are a couple of hoodies and tees, but the hoodie featuring a collage of Playboy covers looks like the most promising item of the bunch. What are your thoughts on this unique collaboration?

After having presented in the last week the collaborations by mastermind JAPAN with Timberland and with Vans, we take a closer look at the recently launched pea coat that the brand worked on with Schott NYC. Keeping it classic for both brands, the pea coat comes in black and features special mastermind JAPAN logo placements on the sleeves and on the buttons. An all time classic with a twist, the pea coat is now in stock at Ron Herman Japan.

Previewed earlier this summer, the collaboration between mastermind JAPAN and Timberland on the classic 6 Inch Boots will drop this week. Exclusive to Isetan Men’s, the boots feature the classic wheat upper. mastermind JAPAN added a front zipper, logos to the heel, side-panel, zipper pull and the tongue. We like the look of these and details, while overall retaining its classic looks.

Isetan will drop them today, November 23rd, 2011.

The collaboration between mastermind JAPAN and Vans on the Sk8 Hi has finally released. Featuring a black suede upper, the sneaker comes with a tonal mastermind JAPAN logo embroidery on the toe box, black/white check pattern lining and a zipper on the heel. All in all very clean and typical for both brands. Bobos has them in stock now.
