Bodega Wall Vinyl

17 November 2009, 12.35 | Posted in Art | No comments »

Bodega by Arkitip

Bodega is a curated collection of large scale, eco-friendly, temporary indoor art. The concept is to make the art of emerging and established artists alike, affordable and available to the public. Each piece is delivered as a complete package for the consumer and includes ready-to-apply art piece and tools for installation. Obsessed with process, Bodega creates high quality, layered die-cut vinyl art editions; representing some of the most captivating artists of our generation.

Using eco-friendly inks and vinyl to create layered die-cut, gallery quality vinyl that cab be applied to any flat surface. The vinyl is low-tack and can be removed without damaging the wall; however, is non-collectible as the art work cannot be reapplied to a surface after removal.

The first drop of Bodega indoor art includes work by Barry McGee and Michael Leon.

Michael Leon Skulls
Michael Leon’s “skull wearing sunglasses” graphic was recently converted into a 3D sculpture with help from the likes of Bob Kronbauer and Mike from Furni. Each skull is hand-engraved, numbered and signed and evokes a sense of ‘memento mori’. Only 100 pieces will be produced over numerous colors and applications. Seven new colors – numbered 11 through 17 (yep, that’s right, there’s only one per color) – have just been released at Michael Leon Studio and run for $250 USD per skull.

arkitip issue 46 x beams t
Arkitip has become one of our favorite art magazines in recent years, not only because of content, but also because the overall package was always interesting and worth collecting. Now their latest issue 46 has been released and once again they put some very special together.
Issue 46 comes with 3 covers, created by Kevin Lyons, Michael Leon and ben Drury. You can get one or collect them all. The issue includes editorials from Studio von Birken/Ben Pogue, Tony Arcabascio, Nieves, C.R. Stecyk III, Frank Novak and Joshua Gregory. Each issue comes with a blank Beams T x Arkitip t-shirt and each issue comes with a heat transfer sheet designed by the cover artist, that you can then apply to the t-shirt.
A great idea. As usual the issue comes hand packaged and limited to 1500 sets.

Nike Tech Pack Summer ‘08 – Day And Night

nike tech pack summer 08 collection - highsnobiety
NIKE created its Tech Pack collection in order to take something familiar and reinterpret it through their signature innovation process. It’ an evolution: taking iconic pieces from NIKE’s DNA and fusing them with innovative fabrics and design embellishments. Together, Michael Leon and Jarrett Reynolds, the designers behind Tech pack, created the Summer 08 collection by combining cutting edge performance materials and diverse fabrications with sophisticated design techniques and original graphics, and then adapted each garment for everyday use and the culture surrounding sport.
The same philosophy that saw the evolution of the NIKE Windrunner jacket, and includes subtle references to NIKE ACG (All Conditions Gear), was used in the modernization of the humble polo and NIKE tee, allowing for the inclusion of other iconic elements in the Tech Pack collection. For Summer 08, designers Jarrett and Michael are adding cycling-inspired elements to the Tech pack theme. Throughout each piece in the Summer 08 collection, subtle attributes such as 360-degree reflectivity, accessible pockets for quick storage, and packable qualities , easily translate each product from morning to evening.
Graphically, Michael stayed true to the “Day and Night” theme, which is echoed in subtle design allusions to dark city landscapes and the ultimate nighttime creatures – howling coyotes.
The new collection consists of t-shirts, polos, windrunners, shorts and all weather jackets. Have a detailed look at the entire collection after the jump.
